App-Mich II
Re: App-Mich II
never said they are going to play dirty in the sense of ie: cheap shots, no Elon here, but, as I said before, I think you can almost guarantee a couple of things happening if Michigan gets the chance, 1. they are going to play extremely aggressive for the entire game, no matter what the score, the starters will be in the game late, 2. because of what happen 4 years ago, and the heat that's on the head coach, the fan base will except nothing less that a total blowout, they were embarrassed, and have had to listen to it for the last 4 years, Hoke, knows how important this game is in terms of his job security, he will have no problem, for this one game, trying to run up the score.

Re: App-Mich II
Just a question. Do we not consider that if he leaves his starters in late, he is running the risk of injuries to his key players for what they may consider more important opponents?moehler wrote:never said they are going to play dirty in the sense of ie: cheap shots, no Elon here, but, as I said before, I think you can almost guarantee a couple of things happening if Michigan gets the chance, 1. they are going to play extremely aggressive for the entire game, no matter what the score, the starters will be in the game late, 2. because of what happen 4 years ago, and the heat that's on the head coach, the fan base will except nothing less that a total blowout, they were embarrassed, and have had to listen to it for the last 4 years, Hoke, knows how important this game is in terms of his job security, he will have no problem, for this one game, trying to run up the score.
Regardless we'll have the Ohio State as well as the Penn State fans on our side.

Re: App-Mich II
normally, I believe they wouldn't keep the starters in late in they had a comfortable lead, but this is a special circumstance, everything about this game is unique, a lot more people outside of Michgan will be paying attention to this game, there has even been rumors, years ago, that one of the major broadcasting companies, helped put this rematch togeather, don't know if that's true, just a rumor. I think it will be interesting to see how much attention the game gets leading into the kickoff. Im hoping that there will be enough interest that maybe the game will be played primetime, on a major network, I know its a long shot, but wouldn't that be great to see.

Re: App-Mich II
There is no doubt that unlike 07 this Michigan team will be very motivated to win this game as will 100K+ fans in the Big House. UM is stocked with huge numbers of 3 and 4 star recruits and will again be competitive in a premier BCS conference. App is in a transition period and no offense to Cam or our other QB's, there isn't an AE type playmaker at QB for App. I think our young team learned they can play against anyone during the first half of the UGA game last year. I don't necessarily expect an App victory but I don't look for a blowout either and I wouldn't be surprised if App is in this thing in the 4th quarter. App has won there before and could do so again.

The UGA game last year, and the overall improvement of the team in the last 4 games last year gives me hope, I would be disappointed if we are not in the game mid-third quarter, jealous of you guys making it to the game, should be blast!!!!

Re: App-Mich II
Think about this...if App does win, and I fully expect they have a possibility (see below), there is a great chance App will be the first team in the Sun Belt to ever get a ranking. I hope I'm right by saying that. That will certainly ruffle some Sun Belt feathers.
App went into the Big House in '07 with 63 scholarship players lining up against the likes of Hart, Henne, Long, Manningham and 81 other scholarship players. In '14, they will go into the Big House with 83ish scholarship players (we're not at the full 85, right?) lining up against a team that is decidedly not as good (on paper) as the '07 team.
Yes, UM may have revenge as a motivator. But I think our players have something very important as a motivator too. I think they want to go out and prove to the world that '07 was not a fluke and lightning can strike twice.

That would be great but I don't think Michigan will be ranked so an App victory wouldn't put us in the top 25.

Wasn't Hart the one who sat on the stationary bike most of the game?

Just curious, isn't Mich ranked most every year no matter their record? I seriously don't know as I seldom read the polls.TheMoody1 wrote:kiddbrewer wrote:Think about this...if App does win, and I fully expect they have a possibility (see below), there is a great chance App will be the first team in the Sun Belt to ever get a ranking./quote]

Yep - he had 188 yards and scored 3 TDs including the 54 yarder which put them ahead - that was a great run ---AppState89 wrote:Yes, he was, but he did run all over us when he was in the game.JCline0429 wrote:kiddbrewer wrote:Think about this...if App does win, and I fully expect they have a possibility (see below), there is a great chance App will be the first team in the Sun Belt to ever get a ranking. We don't have Dexter Jackson speed either.

If Sumler is healthy, he is supposed to have comparable speed. He hasn't run track, so we only have "unofficial" times there, but still pretty good speed.fjblair wrote:asutrnr81 wrote:The biggest difference we have is our quarterback play. Let's just say if Sumler is healthy, he is faster than Jackson. I believe this will be a break out year for him and we will see just how fast/good he is.Yosef84 wrote:If Sumler is healthy, he is supposed to have comparable speed. Re: App-Mich II
you got to love and really pull for Sumler, with everything he has gone thru, he has kept a great attitude, worked hard, and has never felt sorry for himself. Hope he has a really, really big year, he deserves it.

Re: App-Mich II
You could clearly see Sumler's speed during the Spring game. If he's healthy I predict he has an outstanding year.
I will be eagerly watching to see what happens at QB during Fall Camp.
