Re: Best win since 2009 ?
Seeing these young guys grow up before our very eyes is something special. I was very happy for Critcher making the wining FG after struggling most of the game. It's also fun to see how happy these guys are after a win. When they came over to celebrate with the students it was very special. And the cheers from the App fans on the way out of the stadium brought back some good memories.
The only negative I can see was the poor showing of the student body. Also, did anyone else hear the open mic over the loud speakers when someone was letting out some curse words complaining about something or someone. It was sort of funny but at the same time embarassing. Everyone in my section (205) was screaming turn off the mic.
I think the guys are going to be fun to watch for several years to come. Go Apps!!!

Alumni are just as much if not worse from a lack of attendance perspective.
Couple more like that and the bandwagon fills back up.

This is the type of game Satterfield had been losing (e.g., A&T, CSU, Liberty). This is the type of game that experienced HC's generally out-coach an inexperienced HC. We finally got one of these types of win. As beneficial as this type of win can be for the players, especially the young players, it can also be extremely beneficial to our coaching staff. Definitely the best home win since 2009, and probably the best win since 2009.

I was in 205, but I didn't hear the open mic. According to MMB posters, it was the ref.AtlantaMountaineer wrote:Seeing these young guys grow up before our very eyes is something special. Re: Best win since 2009 ?
We've won championships, playoff games, and have beaten rivals since 2009 so this isn't close to our best win since 2009. I'd add that we've beaten several better teams in the past five years.
It is important that Satterfield got a close win. But, if he becomes the coach we all hope he can be, I'll look at the Troy win just as much as a "key early win" in his tenure.
We are a lot better than Troy (and have been better than a ton of FBS teams for quite some time). But, it was still our first FBS win in history that wasn't viewed as a huge upset. The team was playing in front of nobody and fell behind early. Then, we beat the crap out of them.
I think that's when the team realized that they should (not could...should) win a lot of games in this conference. If the team had that mindset at the beginning of the year, we'd beat at least 6-3 right now and possibly 7-2.

Can't rate this one ahead of some of the Ga. Southern wins in recent years, especially the one in Statesboro a couple years back.
Actually, not sure I'd rate it ahead of the Troy win this year. ULM may be slightly better, but Troy was on the road, a huge blowout, and most importantly, the win that turned around our season (and maybe more).

Re: Best win since 2009 ?
It was a huge win for Scott and the kids. Really needed a close win that they had to gut out. Over the past 2 years we had not won a game decided by 10 or less. However, before Saturday, we had lost several close games.
I thought it was the biggest win since 2009 vs. Richmond, the only other one that is close was the win in 2012 in Statesboro.

Re: Best win since 2009 ?
I think that arguments can be made either way as to the "bigness" of this game and where it ranks. I think that you have to consider it right near the top considering the fact (despite the overall rank of the SBC) that we are now playing big boy football and the season implications are on a larger scale. Even though it was really cool to win FCS championships, knock off Michigan and reign as kings of the SOCON the bottom line is that outside of our little world most college football fans had no idea what FCS is/was and had no concept of the playoffs. We beat a quality team who didn't roll over and we beat a quality team when we could have rolled over. Even though the crazy game that people play- we beat a team who beat a better team, blah blah blah really means nothing the fact that we beat a team who nearly knocked of the team that knocked off Alabama is pretty damn impressive, especially considering all that happened in back to back weeks.

Re: Best win since 2009 ?
Just wanted to rekindle this thread. Now that we have had a few days where do you folks now rank this win? I can appreciate the list of wins one guys posted but don't you have to slot a win over a reasonably quality FBS team ahead of any Furman or Citadel? The GSU win last year would certainly have to be up there considering how badly our transition season was going and those guys certainly were legit even last season. I would love to see what would certainly be the number one win in 5 years this or next Saturday.

Re: Best win since 2009 ?
I felt the Troy win was a huge one for the confidence of this young team. I can't remember the last time a saw a group of players have so much fun on the sidelines. I actually framed my Troy ticket stub and put it with many of the other key ticket stubs that were important to me. It had been a long time since I felt so good leaving a stadium.......maybe even better than the ULM game. (I admit the USA game was one of the worst feelings I've ever had leaving a game).EastHallApp wrote:Can't rate this one ahead of some of the Ga. Assuming we can hang on in the 4th, I'll vote for a win over Arkansas State as the BIGGEST win in 7 seasons, since the Delaware win.
Arkansas State has been a very good program over the last 5 years.

I agree. Best win since 2009. They have won several SunBelt championships too.
