I don't blame Bentlee at all for this situation. He has stepped into a role he never planned to fill and has done an admirable job. I admire him for being willing to take on the challenge. From what I have seen, I have no doubt he could be a very good placekicker if that were the role he focused on. Obviously, something went wrong to put us in the position of having to ask our all-American punter to take over placekicking duties. I remain hopeful that whatever that situation was can be corrected in the off-season. If not, and Bentlee has to do it again, I expect that he will be much more consistent next year because he will know going in that he has to kick as well as punt.

Agreed and like my original statement I think we should continue to coach around it just as Satt has for the past few weeks. PK is a current weakness, when you have a weakness that cant be fixed you coach around it if you can.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!

Steve: I'm OK with the three-man shield, but we could tweak our technique. Presently, our three shield blockers remain basically stationary until the sound of the kick. That means four of our 11 potential tacklers are slow at getting down the field. It seems to me, on plays when the receiving team doesn't threaten to block Critcher's punt, our shield blockers could release a bit sooner. It can be tricky, though. We've seen situations where the shield blockers hustle down field while the punter stumbles around trying to pick up a dropped snap. Still, I think we could make more of an effort to get our shield players into position to make a tackle down field.
