Honest question:bcoach wrote:Not in favor of it at all. Couple beers tailgating is great. Another three hours of drinking then driving down the mountain is not the company I want to have on the way home. I have always thought that three hour break before getting behind the wheel was a good thing. I also don't need it spilled on me as people are coming back to their seats.
Now as far as raising money I have an even better idea. Just donate $8 a game to the Josef club, or $16, or $24
Bet this is not going to go over well
Do you avoid professional sporting events for that reason? Do you think our fans are more irresponsible than, say, Panthers fans?

Re: Beer in KBS
While I understand the argument you are making regarding the 3 hour sober up period, Bcoach, the simple fact is that the people who are going to drink at the game and drive will do so regardless. Responsible people do not drink too much and drive home. Having beer available will not change those people either way. It's not secret that pockets full of mini bottles flow through the gates. The people who want to drink all game and drive home are already doing so.

Re: Beer in KBS
IF they do it.. it ought to come from the campus brewery exclusively (don't we offer a degree in that now?)... or local brewery... just a thought...

Re: Beer in KBS
The counter to this argument is that the people who want to drink at games will drink anyway...they just sneak in airplane bottles, and then have unfettered access to mixers. Don't know if you've noticed, but they don't really pat people down extensively while entering games.bcoach wrote:Not in favor of it at all. Couple beers tailgating is great. A person selling beer, however, can cut off someone who has over-indulged...and like most pro games, there would be a cut-off time for sales. NFL, I believe, does it at the end of the 3rd, baseball, usually mid-7th inning.
You could even, in this case, move it up to the start of the 3rd.
I don't care, either way, but the schools who have done it have realized massive revenue increases thanks to beer sales in-stadium.

Re: Beer in KBS
Not exclusively, because they can probably get more money from one of the big brewers to sell there. But at least one local or in-state brewer should definitely be an option.WXAPP wrote:IF they do it.. it ought to come from the campus brewery exclusively (don't we offer a degree in that now?)... or local brewery... just a thought...
Re: Beer in KBS
Nice idea, in practice...but you know there are people who only drink their Light Domestics, and won't purchase otherwise.WXAPP wrote:IF they do it.. it ought to come from the campus brewery exclusively (don't we offer a degree in that now?)... or local brewery... just a thought...
Plus - not sure that the brewing sciences program or AMB would be able to keep up with in-stadium demand PLUS their out-of-stadium demands.

I'm just curious as to how you rationalize your stance then. The drinking an driving concern is a valid one. I just don't think it will really change anything as others have already mentioned. Some drunk could spill a Pepsi down your back just as easily as a beer. Personally I'd rather have beer spilled on me. At least it isn't as sticky.bcoach wrote:1. Re: Beer in KBS
Oh, and I vote yes to this. Lost Provence, AMB and Ivory Tower beers available along with some yellow macro beer for those who prefer to not taste their liquids.
As far as the spilling is concerned......what's the difference in getting a pepsi spilled in the stands and a beer.....I'm way more careful to not spill beer too!

I'm not as familiar with the infrastructure and production capabilities of Ivory Tower, but read this week that AMB is partnering with the Craft Brew Alliance and will be releasing cans soon.appgrad wrote:Nice idea, in practice...but you know there are people who only drink their Light Domestics, and won't purchase otherwise.WXAPP wrote:IF they do it.. it ought to come from the campus brewery exclusively (don't we offer a degree in that now?)... or local brewery... just a thought...

Re: Beer in KBS
Beer sales on the ASU campus aren't unprecedented. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the High Country Beer Festival, but it's a wonderful event that showcases music and microbrews from the High Country and the rest of North Carolina.

They've been holding the event for seven years now and, amazingly, the world hasn't ended.

Well you don't avoid pro sports because of beer spilling/DWI concerns, yet that's your basis for not favoring offering beer at KBS.bcoach wrote:What is it you would like me to rationalize?Gonzo wrote:I'm just curious as to how you rationalize your stance then. Re: Beer in KBS
I am one of those who prefers macrobrew to the more stout, and admittedly, better quality microbrews out there. Don't know why, it's just how I roll, I guess. But make your red wine as strong as you'd like. It's not a good wine unless you *cough* just a little on the first sip.

Would this be a decision which APP could make? - or would it have to be approved by the UNC board? ---

Don't you know that beer sales are the root of all evil - it will affect your mind, curve your spine, and cause the allies to lose the war.kiddbrewer wrote: LOL, it's not. Re: Beer in KBS
AMB seems to be able to handle that. They are launching cans of 3 of their beers starting today and are going to start distributing. I would think they could be ready by next fall.appgrad wrote:Nice idea, in practice...but you know there are people who only drink their Light Domestics, and won't purchase otherwise.WXAPP wrote:IF they do it.. it ought to come from the campus brewery exclusively (don't we offer a degree in that now?)... or local brewery... just a thought...

their Honey Badger beer would probably sell like crazy in that Black and Gold can!
