I'm not sure if ODU put their backups in by this point but I thought our 3/4 RB's Boyd and Moore actually looked more impressive than Cox and Upshaw. For some reason Cox looked to trip himself up on multiple runs and didn't look like he was fluid (maybe the wet field and weather played a role?). Upshaw is more of a power back so maybe not a great comparison to Boyd or Moore. But those two backups looked phenomenal hitting the holes with great speed and moves to make guys miss.

Future is truly bright!

Go 'Neers!!

You're right on about Boyd and Moore. If we can get some occasional productivity (like yesterday) out of those two this season when needed, and then have them for 3 more years!? Look out! I saw Moore play a few times at Crest, albeit against admittedly over-matched competition, and you could tell he had some exceptional skill. You just hoped what you were seeing was the real deal and not a statement against cupcakes. After some of those runs yesterday I'm thinking it's the first one. We're stocked!

Boyd and Moore did look good, but I think a winded and demoralized ODU defense had a lot to do with that. Very excited to see the backups play well, but Cox and Upshaw were punching their D in the mouth when everyone was rested and ready and the weather was at its worst. Hard to make an apples to apples comparison. But cheers for a bright future!

I agree with your comments. Cox got most of the early carries while ODU was fresh and before we broke them down. That being said, we appear to have a very deep stable of running backs! It's GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!

After letting this one "soak" in (couldn't resist), an all around great team effort. Complete focus for 60 minutes, 2's and 3's played well, execution of game plan=100%. Defense is becoming BEASTLY, Stringer can run---fast, Gibbs--well, wow, Hayes ( #17-freshman) played well in his first start, Law and Blair are a force, Fernandez may be most improved D-player, Defense wrapping up and tackling well. On offense, Lamb looked like the QB most of us knew we had, our running backs were great--sans one fumble with Moore (#25) showing some good stuff, O-Line played in sync and made holes, Meadors is an MVP type player. Shout out to Matics on his 7 for 7 extra point performance and some good kickoffs. Special teams played well-- how about Malachi Jones big tackle on one of our punts or kickoffs.

This was a BIG win in the BIG picture for our Apps. G-5 vs G-5. I see the most cohesive, consistent and focused team I may have seen in many, many years... Can't wait 'til next Saturday. See you @ THE ROCK!!!

Same here. Interesting setup, their visitors' section is right next to their student section. Things got pretty quiet over there in the second quarter and thereafter.

I liked Caruso's command at QB. He looks to be a keeper as Lamb's backup. I thought his release was a little quicker that Taylor's even though he only threw 2 passes.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

I thought the same thing while watching the game yesterday. CUSA took ODU and Charlotte in lieu of App and Ga Southern. I know, I know, its all about metro areas. I would take our tradition over being located in Harrisburg any day of the week. :D
