I have noticed in the past years when APP is on the road that some schools allow fans to leave at halftime to tailgate briefly and allowed to re-enter the stadium. I know this does not entice fans to come up the mountain to see the game, but I feel it would help to keep fans in their seats for the second half if they know they can re-enter at no charge. I am always disappointed to see such a mass exodus at halftime no matter if we are winning or losing at the time.
I brought this up a while back and have noticed it other places as well. They even do this at Lenoir Rhyne. It would be tough in Boone because our parking/tailgate spots are far flung for some of us. I think however this would be a great opportunity for the beer garden idea. Set it up in duck pond field. Come half-time we could go out have a cold one and come back in for the second half. Those that park in stadium lot could return to their spots for a bit.

Put some good sturdy railings around the edge and put a beer garden on top of Owen's Field House. That way we'll get some more use out of the space while it's still standing and you can mix/mingle during the game, if you so choose, and still have a view. I'm thinking high-top pub tables spaced about, a drink platform running the length of the railing overlooking the field. Add a small extension to the back of the clock/video deck to serve as the bar. I'm thinking a different NC craft brewery tap takeover each game. Install black and gold overlapping aesthetic sails (see Hickory's Union Square project) like many places are using for amphitheaters and the like over the garden, providing shade from sun and protection from rain and making that "ugly" flat roof of Owens not so much of an aerial eyesore. Put some quality temporary stairs up from the Owens FH stairs landing that currently exists on the front of the building and open the beer garden up pre-game, accessible from the outside of KBS. This would allow people to scan in early, check out the field, pre-game warmups, etc., similar to the old Yosef Club room and then go right down inside the stadium. Of course the big problem would be the ADA question, the cost of constructing suitable temporary stairs, and any additional insurance liability. The actual beer garden up top could be done for less than $10k I would imagine. Never going to happen I know, but if Owens is going to stand for 10 more seasons...

Walking on a roof is not good for it's health.
