Re: 2016 OOC Schedule..JUST FOR FUN PEOPLE
With all of the big games my biggest worry is that we will drop one to a conference foe that we would should beat 40-10 but lose say 28-24 or something close. That is my fear with the quick 11-2 rise weve had and then two big OOC games. Coaches have to make sure the guys stay focused one week at a time. I think 9-3 or 8-4 are the most probable. Then I think the year after that we will be back up to a 10 win season.

Miami conceivably could be a Thursday night game - they played @ Cincy on a Thursday this year. Hope not, though.

Would be better than a Thursday IMO. Tuesday = long week, Thursday = short week. Tuesday = little if any TV competition, Thursday = P5 and NFL games.proasu89 wrote:A Tuesday in Statesboro is in play. May not happen but certainly possible.

One primary ownside of Tuesday is the size of the crowd that could come out on a Tuesday night. Might be just students and locals. Guess it would not be such an issue for us if it is a road game, but we would probably have a very weak showing of fans at an away game at the beginning of the week.

UT is a near impossibility. They play VT at the Bristol Racetrack the following weekend, which could've been a distraction if were playing them the second week as opposed to the opening week. They have had top 5-10 classes for four years in a row and could very well end up the season in Atlanta playing for the SEC championship. Miami has a load of talent and with the right coach there, which they have in Richt, they could have a turn around similar to Florida this year. This one I hope we make a game out of.
Lamb just doesn't have the arm strength to compete against these ultra quick and big linebackers and d-backs. Turn overs will likely be the killer for us in these two.
Akron will be a very difficult win. ODU will be looking for revenge and they catch us in a perfect situation between UT and Miami. This has all the markings of a dangerous first four games. I would love to see us 3-1, like some have suggested, but the view without my black and gold glasses on tells me 1-3 is closer to reality.

I am thinking 2-2 but after T and M I could be concerned about the shape we are in for Akron. Next years schedule is no pushover. It is very possible to be 9-3 or 8-4 but I am going to go with 10-2

2-2 is the logical guess - if Tenn and/or the U give us a lot of help wins are certainly possible - every year we get excited about playing the "big boys" and every year but one we have gotten torched - I realize things are better now but these are two tough, tough opponents ---

Re: 2016 OOC Schedule..JUST FOR FUN PEOPLE
I think it safe to say this is the toughest schedule we will have ever faced. The first four games will really test us. In addition, we go to Statesboro, Troy, and Lafayette. We could be better and yet have a record that falls short of this year. If we were to match this year's record, then we would likely be looking at the best team in App State history.

Re: 2016 OOC Schedule..JUST FOR FUN PEOPLE
Not loving schedule with all of our OOC games stacked at the beginning, especially since they are all against good or at least decent teams. However, maybe this is what App prefers because we have tended to schedule this way for a while.
It just seems that sometimes it takes a team a few games to gel, and that is during the time that we will be facing some of the strongest competition we will meet all year.
On the other hand, it is possible we could be stronger at the beginning of the season before injuries and potential lack of depth takes its toll.
Like our chances against Akron and ODU.
Tennessee and Miami will be tough, but I hope we can be competative. They ended up with similar reg. season records (8-4) and ended the reg. season ranked close to each other in national rankings.

Could be wrong but I think I saw they set the date for 9/17/16. I don't know how flexible that is with ESPN.EastHallApp wrote:Miami conceivably could be a Thursday night game - they played @ Cincy on a Thursday this year. Hope not, though.

Just for fun. Suppose we go 12-0. Both Tenn and Miami win their conf championships and finish 12-1 each. Where would that put App in the conversation? Best of G-5 for sure but CFP maybe? Long shot for sure, but....????

Definately a long shot. After looking at UT's young team yesterday, it looks like an extreme long shot, plus there are other good teams on the schedule. I look forward to the match ups next season, it will show us where we stand, I hope we do well.
