Did not know the Tuesday night games were the first thing to be decided. Hard to believe we wouldn't be in one of those. I just hope it is on the road.Saint3333 wrote:Actually the Tuesday games are decided first and do impact the conference schedule as both teams don't play the Saturdays surrounding those games.hapapp wrote:TV games aren't established until later. Maybe they are trying to corral APP into another two Thursday night games on ESPNU to compete against CUSA on ESPN2 in same time slot. Personally, I hope for zero Thursday night games in 2016, or at most one with a bye week preceding it.tjpappy wrote: I wonder if schools are still lobbying for the schedules they want and if that would be taken into consideration at this point.
My guess is App @ GS and Ark St. vs. ULL will be the two Tuesday games.

I would assume the only wealth is exposure as the TV revenue would be divided evenly.WVAPPeer wrote:In your opinion, how would the SB decide? - would it be about match-ups? about getting the best teams on TV? or would they look to "spread the wealth?"Saint3333 wrote:The SBC is contracted for 2 ESPN2 games on Tuesdays and 5 ESPNU games on Thursdays through the 2019 football season.
There will be 14 teams that play mid-week games next year and I'd bet we get a minimum of two of them, possibly three; @ GS, GA St., and @ ULL.

Re: SunBelt Schedule
Historically the top teams from the prior year have been scheduled for the mid-week games.WVAPPeer wrote:In your opinion, how would the SB decide? - would it be about match-ups? about getting the best teams on TV? or would they look to "spread the wealth?"Saint3333 wrote:The SBC is contracted for 2 ESPN2 games on Tuesdays and 5 ESPNU games on Thursdays through the 2019 football season.

For 2014
Ark St - 3 (two Tuesdays)
ULL - 2 (1 Tuesday)
USA - 2 (1 Tuesday)
App - 2
GS - 2
Texas St - 2
ULM - 1
They try and put the best programs on TV to showcase the best we have. Ark St, App, GS, ULL, and GA St. should all have 2 mid-week games. GS could get three as they play all four of the ones I've listed. App-GS should be a Tuesday game, which i like as long as it's on the road, two extra days to prep for that offense.

How about letting Texas State, NM State, ULM and Idaho play the Tuesday and Thursday night games. Nobody watches them anyway.

My thoughts exactly regarding ESPNU broadcasts. ESPN2 is a little more worthy imo.AppState89 wrote:How about letting Texas State, NM State, ULM and Idaho play the Tuesday and Thursday night games. Nobody watches them anyway.

The purpose of TV contracts is to gain exposure for the conference, putting our worst teams on TV doesn't do that.AppState89 wrote:How about letting Texas State, NM State, ULM and Idaho play the Tuesday and Thursday night games. Nobody watches them anyway.
You don't see the SEC parading Vandy, Kentucky, etc. out for their weekly 3:30 game.
One of the reasons we joined the FBS was to gain exposure for our university through our athletic program.

Re: SunBelt Schedule
That begs the question about the amount and quality of exposure we get for playing on ESPNU. ESPNU is not likely to be on the big screens in many bars where the teams playing are not already "exposed".Saint3333 wrote:The purpose of TV contracts is to gain exposure for the conference, putting our worst teams on TV doesn't do that.AppState89 wrote:How about letting Texas State, NM State, ULM and Idaho play the Tuesday and Thursday night games. When we were on the ESPNU Thursday night games I called several friends/relatives and I was surprised how many didn't get ESPNU - I thought it was available on most cable providers without having to pay extra???CVAPP wrote:That begs the question about the amount and quality of exposure we get for playing on ESPNU. Yep, live streaming on ESPN3 reaches more folks than broadcastings on the U. If you don't have U you can't watch it on ESPN3 until it's a replay. U is mickey mouse national exposure.WVAPPeer wrote: When we were on the ESPNU Thursday night games I called several friends/relatives and I was surprised how many didn't get ESPNU - I thought it was available on most cable providers without having to pay extra???

In fairness, they're all Mickey Mouse networks. They're owned by Disney.CVAPP wrote:Yep, live streaming on ESPN3 reaches more folks than broadcastings on the U. ESPNU - 71 million households.

I was just surprised how many told me they didn't get the U - I thought it was included in most standard cable packages - they told me they got ESPN and ESPN2 but not ESPNU ---

71 million households is a good amount of people. I went to the Ale house in Raleigh to watch both Thursday games and the game was on more than enough TVs.

71 million is a lot ... my only point is I was surprised that the U was an extra many cable users had to purchase on top of ESPN and 2...

Re: SunBelt Schedule
A good amount of people is a fair description, but if ESPNU were comparable to ESPN or ESPN2 then why do 20 million less households have access to it? And why would we not be on either of the broader reaching? ESPNU is like, dare I say, the FCS of the ESPN networks.Yosef10 wrote:71 million households is a good amount of people. Not all of the top cable providers offer ESPNU, at least that used to be the case. My provider offers the U but I don't subscribe to the next tier up so I don't get it, too tight I guess.

Re: SunBelt Schedule
ESPNU isn't always next to ESPN and ESPN2 in the line-up. I suspect, because it hasn't always been the case, many who get ESPNU do so, but don't realize it.
