Re: 2016 home/away opponents announced
Not having mini-season packets makes logistics much easier for all sorts of things. Imagine how much fun it is to sort parking and parking passes to be sure the this donor got these three passes and this donor got those three passes. Add to that the variations in donor parking levels.
Season tickets are the way to go. If we discounted a full season packet slightly, it would make buying full season tickets more palatable to some I think. Personally, I'd rather sell 1,000 season ticket packets at $150 than 700 season ticket packets at $180.

If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

This year a full season ticket will be a 30% discount off individual game ticket prices. Each season ticket will be $200.DaphneUrquhart wrote: If we discounted a full season packet slightly, it would make buying full season tickets more palatable to some I think.

I don't know how on earth you could get any cheaper than that.TheMoody1 wrote:This year a full season ticket will be a 30% discount off individual game ticket prices. If season tickets are $200 at a 30% discount, then individual tickets would total $260. That is higher than historical pricing.
I think $200 for season tickets is a good deal for the product, but I think we're going to be shocked at the Miami game pricing if the total individual tickets add up to $260.

No offense, but increasing convenience for the staff at the expense of convenience for the customer isn't exactly Marketing 101.DaphneUrquhart wrote:Not having mini-season packets makes logistics much easier for all sorts of things. This is the way pricing should be. Have a premium for some big time games, but offer discounts for people who commit to the entire season. This is how everyone else operates in college football.Saint3333 wrote:If season tickets are $200 at a 30% discount, then individual tickets would total $260. That is higher than historical pricing.

No offense taken. I've packed season ticket / Yosef packets for years ... as a volunteer. It's what I do for "vacation". I do have a bit better insight into the mechanics of getting the stuff out than most would have. No, it's not about convenience for staff (or volunteers) at all. Our system before this year simply hasn't been all that practical.EastHallApp wrote:No offense, but increasing convenience for the staff at the expense of convenience for the customer isn't exactly Marketing 101.DaphneUrquhart wrote:Not having mini-season packets makes logistics much easier for all sorts of things. Excellent! I was pulling numbers out of thin air just for illustration's sake. $200 for season tickets sounds great to me!TheMoody1 wrote:This year a full season ticket will be a 30% discount off individual game ticket prices. If the Miami game is as big as billed, and we have not sold 20k+ season tickets, and we need money as badly as we do, Miami should carry a pretty hefty price. We can't keep talking about all the things we want and not pay for them.

Are we offering young alumni discounts. Most schools do this and being our largest alumni base, WE SHOULD TOO.

Re: 2016 home/away opponents announced
I realize the move up requires some changes to accept but this is really disappointing. I have not been able to buy a whole season ticket package the past two years. I was looking forward to the 3 game package this year. Does anyone know a decent rationale behind this change?APPdiesel wrote:Also no mini packages for 2016. Which I'm disappointed about. I cannot make it to every game and have enjoyed that system.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

App State athletics is HURTING for cash. If they need to raise prices to generate more money for the program, let them. In my opinion, App State football is worth a lot more than what I pay for today. If we want to grow as a program and retain coaches, this absolutely has to happen.

Question is, is asking people to pay more when you already aren't filling the stadium likely to produce the desired result?APPARJ wrote:App State athletics is HURTING for cash. Gillin and the athletic department is trying to anticipate the demand with the supply that's being offered. It's not an exact science.

Re: 2016 home/away opponents announced
I think Gillin saw 8,000 travel to Montgomery and said okay why do we only have 2000 something YC members? So he is forcing some hands. I am luckily in a Yosef seating section with no changes and my youngest is an incoming freshman in 2016 so my costs are reduced significantly. Still having two in college I have no plans to up my contribution. I used the monthly plan last year for the first time and it did help.

The athletic department's Twitter @appstatesports, is taking questions regarding season tickets all day today.

Re: 2016 home/away opponents announced
I think part of it is a long-term plan to increase season ticket sales and YC memberships. I suspect another factor is that Gillin realizes that we have one history-making, program-changing home game in 2016, but the rest of the schedule is kind of a dog. (I know, I know... at least it's not SoCon...). So I think he's trying to force people's hands to buy season tickets because he knows single-game sales aren't likely to be great for the Sun Belt portion of the schedule.T-Dog wrote:Gillin and the athletic department is trying to anticipate the demand with the supply that's being offered.
