2016 Football Uniforms and Helmets

BWN posted on Twitter that he has been told that the graphic in the OP is not new uniforms and if there are changes to uniforms there would be an announcement this summer. In other words, those are the new unis!

Whatever they do, they need to do it and stick with it. Make whatever concepts you want to impress the kids...that's fine...but what hits the field needs to remain consistent.

I like this yosef design but I agree it could be confusing to those not 'in the know'. If Nike would sell us the rights, make it just a tad bigger so that the black chin strap sneaks right in between the top of the beard and the bottom of the hat.

I agree and think that 11 of the 12 games we play should feature the Block A (I still prefer the white one). However for one game that is an awesome helmet.

I'd be willing to bet money that the new helmet isn't going to be anything especially original or exciting. I think it's gonna be a yellow helmet, with either a black block A or Yosef. Hear me out: nearly every piece of marketing material we put out lately has the yellow jerseys all over them and I don't believe Nike has ever given us a truly original design before.

Glad to see the bland "Appalachian State" removed from the chest. Would like to see football incorporate the cursive "Mountaineers" that you see on the volleyball unis.

This +1000. I don't think we use the cursive "Mountaineers" logo enough.

I still prefer the white A, but the black BLOCK A has really grown on me. However, I really don't like the Yosef head on the helmets at all. Glad to not see it yet for this coming year.

I like most of our stuff. Black A has really grown on me. The only uni's I can't stand are the all gold. But I've resigned myself to them, because I know this is the way it is now.

Well I've been wrong before, but my gut feeling is a flat black helmet with the Nike styled yosef head.

when did ESPN come up with this, and why?

They came up with it for last football season as part of their "All In" campaign. They had made a graphic for all FBS teams using an abstract nod to the team's mascots, this is the one they used for us.
