The Boone PD and Athletic dept better be on their P's & Q's... Lots of folks coming to town and a short window to get them into the parking lots and into stadium.
Look at it this way, now we have more time to celebrate the victory afterwards.
Can we please, please for the love of God, not lose by 30 if we are going to be in everyone's living rooms? People want to talk about PR, league perception, and ranking snubs...it starts with not being a door mat for P5 teams. Boise would have never climbed out of the primordial CFB ooze if they only beat WAC teams but lost by 30 to everyone else. This is a great opportunity for us, but our history cuts against us. Here's to hoping home field advantage makes some kind of marked difference in this game.
Ha I do this to myself every year. I want so badly to believe we can do it.

I'm going into this one with the expectation that we have a real shot to win. I don't think our history is relevant to this game. This is this year's team. That's true for any game, but especially when you've just recently moved up to FBS.

Your post is a let down as well. Seriously? We are playing an ACC team, we are on the big boy network and besides it is the same day as the VT UT game. I like the spot.AppDawg wrote:This is good exposure. However, I must say it is a big let down. Was hopeful for a long day of tailgating and and enjoying atmosphere all day.

Be positive and hope for a win. Geez, pop a top after the game and have a DD.

Hate noon, was hoping for at least 3:30 if not later. But oh well.

I'll likely be attending as a member of the press (ESPN Upstate), so will have to stay relatively sober...or better yet sober up by the time I walk up to the press box./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:What you got?APPdiesel wrote:6am shots...who's with me?

Re: Miami game at 12 pm on ESPN or ESPN 2
Certainly positive about the game... I am just thinking ahead to logistics. More folks will be in Boone than we ever have had for a game. Add to that a kick-off time 3.5 hours earlier. I want everyone in seats loud and proud before the National Anthem. A noon kick is a recipe for a late arriving crowd. That is all.WVAppsfan wrote:Your post is a let down as well. Seriously? I could careless about the drinking. I just enjoy the fellowship and build-up to a big game just as much as the game itself, that is all.

Who would have imagined 3 years ago we'd be playing Miami on ESPN on Saturday in BOONE. No more C staff ESPN crew for this one. Perhaps potential college game day? (We can dream). Either way, the mothership felt we should be on a mainstream network. Speaks well for our brand and potential future scheduling.

Nobody should need a ton of pregame to get hype for this game. Im just glad its not a night game...I dont know if I could handle waiting until 7pm.

Looking at the TV slate for September 17th, it was all-but destined to be an early game. Primetime has two SEC West games, Ohio State at Oklahoma and Notre Dame at Michigan State, USC at Stanford, Texas at Cal and more.

I am stunned to see as many complaints as I have seen in this thread. This is an incredible opportunity for our university. ESPN doesn't come calling for Saturday G5 games often. We have an excellent chance to put on a show.

It's a win/win/win. I would have preferred 1:00 or 2:00 or 3:30 but what's not to like?
Anything beats a 10:00 game like we played at LSU, lol.

makes me wonder why on earth this site is even relevant when it appears to be only a bunch of grouchy old men that will complain about a beautiful day and pretty girl....

Re: Miami game at 12 pm on ESPN or ESPN 2
Where is all of the complaining? I just reread all 37 posts on this thread and just 2 posters (myself being one) indicated they hoped for a later kick-off time? Is that so wrong?
If my wording of a "big" let-down is the root of this, sue me. Should have worded "bit if a letdown". A big letdown would have been a weeknight game.
Seems some of the calling out "all of the complaining" is simply responding to the last post and not reading the full context of the thread. There are more posts about folks complaining than the 2 posts where somone indicated was hoping for something else.
I think everyone is excited about the game - what is there not to be excited about? Geez.

My apologies I took some of the posts as complaints and looking back more it was more mere suggestions.
Still it sure as hell beats playing Mercer and ETSU on PBS Explorer. I have a feeling this won't be our last ESPN game either.
