We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Uncle Brent laid the points, and has to talk to his friends in the desert.

Re: Brent Musberger
Musberger does need to learn how to pronounce Appalachian! Palmer was getting it right. The announcing was basically SEC homer perspective but overall they were respectful.
Not sure of the two guys names who were analyzing after the game, but one was making comments about Tennessee letting an "inferior" team hang around. The other guy (bigger black guy) started out his follow up comments with "Let's make no mistake....Tennessee was outplayed tonight." I need to find out his name and remember it! His comments were spot on target!

Thanks! I thought you were joking until I looked that up. LOLappst89 wrote:It was Booger McFarland.
I liked his comments. He didn't sound like he had to hedge when he complimented the Apps.

Re: Brent Musberger
I notice Musburger let the "LAY" slip 2 or 3 times, but for most of the broadcast he got it right. Clearly he was coached which I think is a good sign, and an indication that he (and the broadcast team) respected App enough to make the effort. I also thought that Musburger was pretty complimentary of App State throughout the game. I went into the broadcast expecting the SEC Network would be like listening to Woody Durham call a CHeater game. I actually loved it in the first half when Musburger was saying "There's Johnny LAAAW with another stop."

Re: Brent Musberger
I know he has been in the biz for a long time, and while I do like the sound of his voice, I can't stand the content coming out. Although they were "respectful " of us, they did not give us our due credit. Tennessee's struggles had nothing to do with our performance, only Tennessee's lack of focus, and miscues. A "dropped" pass in the end zone, not great defense that stripped the ball, or fumbles, not hits forcing fumbles.
Musberger's defense of the ejected player was ridiculous. He called for a fair catch and was hit helmet to helmet. The insistence that the TD was a catch...
Either he was an extreme homer, or really knows little of the rules of the game he is commentating.
My nightmare is listening to him and Dick Vitale do a basketball game. You will never know what is going on the court.

Re: Brent Musberger
I've got a feeling a lot of you guys were watching the game looking for something to get offended about.
For the most part the announcers called a fairly unbiased game with props given to App State's defense and running game throughout the contest. Jesse Palmer "can't believe this kid is a true freshman" comments about Duck, Musberger's comments about the D-line and LB play stopping Tennessee's run game. They praised Cox's vision and patience on almost every run.

Two things on that play, he did signal for fair catch (which was only shown one time on replays) and the fact that he was on a knee catching the ball (play is dead at that point).

Re: Brent Musberger
Excellent point. Nothing was ever said about his knee being down. Those calls are tough but it was definitely correct.huskie3 wrote:Musberger's defense of the ejected player was ridiculous. He called for a fair catch and was hit helmet to helmet

Re: Brent Musberger
Ole Brent called a decent game for being employed by the SEC, but he clearly got giddy and his voice resonated more everytime UT did something good. The rest of the game he was quite, polite, complementary, with no emotion at all (like it should be) but when UT did anything, he got excited. He did make me laugh when he said Boone would be a great place to raise children, even though he had never been there and really doesn't know. Nimrod.

Re: Brent Musberger
He was also holding back on being...complimentary of TL's mom. You can tell he's been encouraged to not do that anymore, but he dropped a few vague hints.t4pizza wrote:Ole Brent called a decent game for being employed by the SEC, but he clearly got giddy and his voice resonated more everytime UT did something good. Re: Brent Musberger
Brent has kind of become the new "whoa Nellie" guy. He is 77 and gets caught up in the moment. I started the thread because early on I probably Keyed in on some UT love. I agree with a few of you. Sounded like every time UT made over 5 yards Brent was saying- "look out folks..." As the game went on, butchering our name a few times aside, he did a fair job. He did love to say Johnny Law. That's ok.
Did you guys catch him referencing the point spread and the over/under? You don't hear announcers do that very often. You hear them mention that a team is an underdog or a decided favorite but typically no mention of the spread. Kind of funny

Re: Brent Musberger
Guy called in to the David Glenn show and asked David his opinion regarding mispronouncing our name repeatedly. Response was "inexcusable". BM is a hall of famer and should have a pretty good idea who we were. Other than that no biggie!
