I know. I'm just pissed. Hell of an effort and class act by Butch Jones talking to the team after the game. We will DESTROY Old Dominion. Go Apps!bigdaddyg wrote:Dang that's harsh. He didn't lose us the game. Awesome game plan. Missed kicks did us in and UT got lucky on the recovery.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Just WOW
Incredible effort but we just let this one slip away. The defense was awesome but the vertical passing game wasn't there. I'm sure some of that was UT but we didn't seem to have any faith there. Finally, let's be honest, the kicking game was the difference.
Re: Just WOW
Sitting in the stands at Neyland as we speak, still trying to wrap my head around everything that happened. We were out played, out classed, out hustled, and out coached. App State deserved to win this game. I know this doesn't help this sting any less, but I take my hat off to you and your boys. They played a hell of a game. You've found yourself a new fan in me. Go Vols, Go Mountaineers!

Really? Seriously? We don't need to start that mess now. The guys took UT to the woodshed and came up short. Satterfield didn't lose anything.luvyosef wrote:Thanks for losing the game Scott!

Re: Just WOW
Brings back memories of 2 years ago. We lost what, 2 or 3 because of missed kicks? We got some breaks. Probably too cute on clock management. The Gilchrest hit was awesome. So close. We might just run the table. UT better win 10 games!

Re: Just WOW
First off congratulations to our Mountaineers for playing their butts off. I' proud of the heart these guys showed in this game. Scott had a great game plan and for the most part it was executed well.
However I felt like in the last 1:30 of the game there wasn't any urgency to try and win the game?????
Didn't they walk into overtime with a timeout in their pocket?
Last but not least.....the mountaineer kicking curse continues......

Re: Just WOW
I know it stings now.... but how many would have signed up for a 20-13 OT loss 24 hours ago. I would have, and I under-estimated our Apps. So proud of this team. Rubino will come around. On to Old Dominion!

Re: Just WOW
When we didn't recover those two late fumbles where they only had one guy in the pile against like six or seven of our guys I knew it just wasn't meant to be. When you make plays like that and the ball just doesn't bounce your way there's nothing you can do about it. Excellent effort by our squad.

Re: Just WOW
yeah, even if satt calls a TO there, not too confident we would have been able to make the FG. would have been nice to have the shot at it though! agree with being impressed with jones after the game

We got us a heck of a team, tough loss, it stings, but this can still be a special season.

Re: Just WOW
I thought the same thing and saw Satt questioning the refs about it too. Should have been intentional grounding or something to that effect.SalemApp wrote:Stolen... Was that "touchdown" not a forward pass?

Re: Just WOW
Hey folks, UT fan here (don't kill me!)
Just wanted to stop in, well honestly I created this account just for this purpose...
Your men played one hell of a football game. In the weeks coming up to this game I grew more and more concerned with what the outcome would be. The more I read the more I learned how well your guys stacked against ours. And the more worried I became. Sure my friends all felt we had this in the bag, but for weeks now there has been lingering doubt in my mind. Pre season rankings mean nothing. What a group of young men and coaches leave on the field means so much more. After seeing what your guys did tonight, I feel for any opponent they have to deal with. Your coaching staff had an excellent game plan for our offense and defense. I know losing is hard, no matter if it was "supposed" to happen or not. Believe me, I've been in that boat for years as we try to right our own ship.
Anyways, my hat is off to your football team, especially your kicker. That young man showed real courage tonight, coming into a hostile environment. and although he didn't make them tonight, he will in fall evenings to come. The same goes for Lamb, he impressed me numerous times tonight. I wish you guys all the best for the rest of the season.
From a Vol football fan with new found respect for the Mountaineers! Give'em hell the rest of the year, gents!
(Ps I got my undergrad at MTSU, so I have a soft spot for the Sun Belt!)

Re: Just WOW
Hard to find fault with the defensive performance. Cox had a great game. The line did a pretty good job providing space for Cox. We saw some wrinkles in the run game with Hopkins. Critcher was good with his punts and with KOs.
Jury would seem to be out on the WR corps and the vertical passing game. Hope Rubino won't struggle like Matics did his junior year.
It was so close to being a great win. A game in which this team came to play and they did account themselves admirably. However, you know they know they let this one slip away.
