I don’t believe we have the type of innovative staff for a drastic offensive scheme change.
I wouldn't characterize Jerry Moore as "innovative" but he did it. That said, I'm really not sure that we need a whole new system. We do need to add some wrinkles and figure out how to use misdirection. Mix in some beef and execution and I think we're fine.
That was Satt not Jerry. Jerry wanted to scrap the spread on the plane ride back from WY.

I agree we don’t need a new system just upgrades across the LOS.

Maybe folks were taking notes during the OSU/Mizzou game tonight. The Tigers converted critical late-game 4th & shorts with some really cool plays.
Drink used his personnel very well. He knew he can’t line up helmet on helmet on the line and used misdirection very well.

Not just late game. There were a couple in first half as well.

I'm sure Satt had his hand in on the original decision and I'm very familiar with the story of Coach Moore wanting to scrap the spread after the Wyoming fiasco, but he was still the head coach and it wouldn't have happened without him agreeing.

I guess we will see if Ponce has some creativity to him.

BINGO

However it would be nice to have a new scheme to go to Clemson with......
I feel that we will be very competitive that game if we can beef the OL and DL. Clemson isn’t its old self anymore struggling in about every game they play.

I'm think we are smaller by design, pass blocking was A+, run blocking in some critical situations has not been what I hoped for, but there could be several more factors argued why or why not that tie into us being predictable in certain situations?

It wasn’t “ A+” vs Troy.

I would guess Clemson will be a double-digit favorite when we roll into Death Valley

Probably 20+ but that won’t mean anything. They needed 4 turnovers from Kentucky to squeak a win. And Kentucky is not a good team. They’re beatable with Klubnik playing QB.

Kentucky has SEC athletes. Clemson will be a handful.

We're sitting at #22 in YPG and #27 in PPG this year. Both were a little higher before playing during a monsoon in Orlando. Not sure we need to change much.

Clemson may be a difficult opponent. They won 9 games this year and would think expectations next year will be at least that many wins. That is why we play the game.

We need to change where we finish in the conference championship.

Out of curiosity, how much bigger do you feel that we need to get? Particularly along the OL.

It’s risky to make judgements about the Clemson squad we’ll face in the fall based on what’s happening right now. A LOT can happen between now and then…for both teams.

10+ pounds across the board- which could just mean another off-season of S&C for the returners. Think we all know the DL has to get bigger in the middle but Hopper held his own!

Not unreasonable but 10+ lbs doesn’t guarantee better. People seem to get caught up in the measurables (height and weight) and not the speed, footwork and hand strength. The best DL in the NFL is 6’1” 285 ((Aaron Donald) and the best Center is 6’3” 282 (Jason Kelce). Just saying.

True. But how many of our guys are even at that weight on DL. With proper S&C training, you can have both.

Weight doesn’t matter, technic/leverage and strength do.

Everyone can agree our line ability needs to improve to compete for championships and with an Oline man as a HC it is somewhat surprising that hasn’t been addressed thus far in his tenure.

Strength, heart and motor for DL. If they can make 5 OL check the 3 of them before thinking LB they have the advantage. Add slants, loops and twists all the better.
