That’s an interesting hypothetical. I think there’s a strong possibility we get in based on our strength of schedule in the Sun Belt versus Liberty’s SOS in a weaker conference.

If all other things are equal, I’ve always believed in the head to head winner should be the choice. So don’t lose to Liberty!

Agreed, the if we lose to ECU or Liberty, that basically eliminates us from playoff contention. A respectable loss to Clemson, will not help us, but will not hurt us either.

I used to think with that thought process heading into Michigan. Now, we're D1, they are D1. You have 12 chances to win a game. No need to go conservative in Week 2. Texas A&M were world beaters, until they weren't. Same with Penn State, Tennessee, Carolina, the other Carolina, etc. Maybe Joey throws for 350 yards straight up.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 11:15 amI guess my question would be how does one outside of the inner sanctum of the football team distinguish between the two? Does the final outcome play into one’s assessment of whether we played to win or not lose? Again, I don’t think that the staff and players prepare for a game to not win. However, as a non conference game, you have to plan for the long game. Clemson has a very good defense, especially up front and that plays into our biggest unknown which is the OL. Beating Clemson helps the resume but keeping Joey upright is paramount to the season’s success. I would expect a ball control offense with short quick passes to get the ball out of his hands.quickly.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
Not speaking in terms of specifically Clemson, but coaches in general know which teams present problems with the matchups and game plan accordingly. I’m not saying that the OL won’t be good. I’m just saying the week 1 dress rehearsal will be vastly different than the week 2 showdown. I’m not questioning the talent along the line. I am just hoping that they gel quickly.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:45 pmI used to think with that thought process heading into Michigan. Now, we're D1, they are D1.
