Judging by the caliber of players we are in the mix for I would say it is all but a done deal that we have an FBS invite coming. Almost everyone of these players has offers from FBS schools, and a decent number have offers from BCS level schools. Exciting times on the recruiting trail!

Im glad as hell to be going after these talented guys, but I'll sure be relieved when we start nailing down some commitments from these other 3 star guys to go along with the level of Covington and Cox. We've really upped the talent pool the past few years, its going to pay off real soon!

Rivals.com has news of a sixth commitment: DB/WR Dante Jones (5-11, 170) of Southeast Raleigh High School in Raleigh. Appears to be pegged for the slot receiver position. Middle Tennessee was his other favorite, with interest from Duke.

Last Saturday, Satterfield told the press conf. Appalachian had 5 commits.

Covington
Cox
Townes
Jones

are all confirmed, and all committed before last Saturday's press conf.

So whats the deal with the Cowan twins?

78 can probably shed some more light on them but the last I read Perez was talking about going to WCU because they were talking about starting him as a freshman but Terez still had (and still has) App pics in the background of his Twitter account and his pic is him wearing an App shirt. Doubt they split up and looks like Western is trying to get them there.

I wish I knew. Firemoose seems to have more current information on them than I do. I have left them in the database, but could easily be persuaded to move them out.

It doesn't appear that the Apps signed any JUCOs this year. Not sure if that's good or bad. :?:

I only like JUCOs to "fill-in the gaps" and not to build a program around. I am a little surprised that we did not sign a JUCO DL/LB.

Just saw this on ESPN:

Three-star wide receiver Dante Jones (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast) committed this week to sign with Appalachian State of the Football Championship Subdivision, multiple sources report.

Duke is his only other scholarship offer, but programs such as Connecticut, East Carolina, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina State and Wake Forest showed interest.

This spring, Jones registered an electronically timed 4.81 40-yard dash, 4.07 20-yard shuttle, 33.4-inch vertical and 94.98 SPARQ at a Nike Combine.

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Jones is commitment No. 3 for Appalachian State.

^ Jeez. Let's hope that his 40 time wasn't accurate. I bet there are some offensive linemen who could run a 4.8...

He is not known for his speed but rather his route running ability.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a 40 time. Anymore, it's all about technique. If you have good technique, you can run a fast 40 time at a combine

He looks plenty fast enough on his highlight tape. If he runs routes as good as he is supposed to be, he'll be an effective if not dangerous weapon in App's offense
