I'm sure there will be a good number of no shows considering the weather. Still, ticket sales are encouraging.

Clearly WCU but the last couple of Elon games when they were good they brought several bus loads - I know because we saw them in NWilkes and saw another broken down on 421 outside of W/S ---

In my opinion, anybody who was against the move to the SunBelt (which essentially means that they were willing to stay in the SoCon) was wrong; if they don't realize it now, they will in the next 3-4 years.

I keep seeing requests to name names. I don't really even remember, and don't care to remember, who supported the move and who didn't. I do remember, however, that there were plenty of folks on both sides of the issue.

See you want to make this a right and wrong instead of a different preference. Many of us prefer the playoffs and a championship game to bowls. You prefer bowls. Many of us don't think you are wrong we just don't prefer bowls over playoffs.
I just don't grasp why there is this insistence on one side having to be wrong. Can't we just have different preferences?

Because it was a discussion about attendance - opponent fans count as attendance

If you wanna watch playoffs, high school playoffs should be starting soon --which was essentially the level of talent in FCS. Be our guest and keep watching subpar football brotha man

We're talking about maybe 1,200 fans brought by Furman, Wofford, and Co. That is nothing.

We can schedule all those teams to one and dones now.

Of course, it's my opinion, or whatever you want to call it, that staying in the SoCon would have been the wrong thing to do. Isn't that what most of the posts on this board are...opinions? Appreciate you misquoting me, by the way...find one post in which I said I preferred bowls to playoffs. What I said, if you read my post, is that I think we have many fans who are caught up in the post-season instead of the regular season schedule. What I look forward to are regular season schedules that will not include the current members of the SoCon (other than an occasional one and done vs. one of the old rivals). If some of our fans still want to play those schools (and now Mercer, and VMI) then that's fine. But do they really think it would have been in the best interests of our program to continue do so? If they do, then it's my opinion that they are wrong.

But please note; that is only my opinion.

I am not arguing in favor of these teams - the discussion was about attendance and my comment was that I didn't think the current SB teams (except GaSo) would match the numbers in attendance compared to the above mentioned teams --- Do you think they will bring more? ---

I don't think saying FCS talent is inferior is absurd in any way. and definitely not one of the most absurd on this board considering there are people arguing FCS over FBS which in itself is lunacy. Now that you've got me started this is what I meant by "embarrassing" in previous posts. We just announced a home and home with Wake and an opener with PENN STATE, non of which would have happened while in FCS. The fact people are still up here arguing against the move and bashing the program over a couple losses is well....embarrassing

I did not mean you individually in reference to bowls. All I am saying is that neither side of this stupid ongoing battle of FBS/FCS is wrong. We just have differing preferences. Here is my exact opinion. We have made the move and it is over. I will continue to come to almost all the home games and will continue to love the team. I probably will not see many away games any more due to distance. I will never prefer bowls over playoffs. That is not a right or wrong it is a preference. I have no problem at all with your preferences and don't know why you have a problem with mine.

- The absurd part was equating FCS with high school talent level.

- If all people cared about was watching only the highest-quality football, they'd just watch the NFL and college football would just be a club sport.

- Penn State is exactly the kind of money game we played regularly when we were in FCS (see Michigan, LSU 2x, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Va. Tech).

I guess you guys aren't very schooled in the area of hyperbole but see above for an example. And EastHall: Yes,we played those money games regularly in the past as FCS but the shift to the committee has basically whiped those games out. P5 teams who want a shot at the top 4 will not be scheduling FCS teams anymore, that was a major deal over the summer. To another point you made, I don't know why you would want to watch a terrible product on the field and I will never understand that line of thought but hey, if you wanna watch it it's out there, just not at The Rock anymore. But like butch said this is a thread about playing wake right?
