Re: ECU vs APP
Considering I have a degree and currently work for a rather prominent aerospace company, it's debatable how useless a degree from ECU really is. If you aren't hiring people from ECU it's likely that you either aren't selecting the correct applicants to interview or simply have an inherent bias that could actually be harmful to your company as judgments should be reserved for post interview analysis.Boone Goon wrote:***Rant warning***
These dipsh!ts from Pitt County Community College are the most dillusional fans in the Southeast. Not only does their team suck. But outside of the nursing program their degrees are worthless. I've been a hiring manager for 15+ years and I have only found 2 schools that I refuse to hire from: Wichita State and ECU. They're "graduates" are terribly unprepared and even after they've turned 30 are still more interested in getting drunk/smoking pot than they are doing quality work. I've told my children they're allowed to go to any school they want, except ECU. In addition to the reasons above, Pitt County is NC's other armpit, (Fayetteville). As for their football program: thinking they're above playing App is laughable. Your program is in shambles and you're so strung out on crank you think the ACC or Big 12 would be interested in adding your crappy town & school to their conference. But most junkies think they've got their stuff together and it's everyone else with the problem. So celebrate your nursing school and I'll look forward to 4 W's in the coming years, one in front of 75,000 screaming Mountaineer fans.
I say all of this and my own brother went to school there. And I'm excited about the signing of this series, because it's another instate game. Nice work DG!

Re: ECU vs APP
That's exactly what is most likely happening, when the city of charlotte aggreed to help pay for the upgrade of BoA stadium in the contract there is a number (idk off top of my head) that BoA is used for free. I believe this will be one of those instances. Also in the journal article it stated App would get a "high" % of ticket sales, why would it say that just to use that money to pay Jerry Richardson?NewApp wrote:So you think BofA Stadium is letting us use the stadium for free?3rd wrote:WrongNewApp wrote:Jerry Richardson will keep a large portion of it.Yosef10 wrote:You know if we keep 100% of that gate?T-Dog wrote:The game in Charlotte will be an App home game.

Re: ECU vs APP
This is my understanding as well. it's funny how the city of Charlotte is doing this for other in state teams but nothing for UNC Concorde yet. Although I would expect the game against Chapel Hill will be in Bank of America.3rd wrote:That's exactly what is most likely happening, when the city of charlotte aggreed to help pay for the upgrade of BoA stadium in the contract there is a number (idk off top of my head) that BoA is used for free. Hey! As a native Concordian, please refer to that place as UNC-Harrisburg. We already have Kannapolis trying to bring us down (hi, ASUTrnr).boonetown1 wrote:This is my understanding as well. it's funny how the city of Charlotte is doing this for other in state teams but nothing for UNC Concorde yet. Re: ECU vs APP
As long as App gets to set ticket prices and not the event staff at BoA, we should be fine. The prices for ECU's previous games became cost prohibitive not only for ECU fans but fans of USC. If tickets can be sold at around $50 or what Miami was sold for, irrespective of the seat, this game could have 55,000 in attendance. I personally live just as close to Charlotte as I do to Boone and I imagine a large contingent of App fans do as well.
Another positive note is that this will act as a bowl game of sorts for fans. It is a neutral site game in a city that is plenty close for a day trip and may even be more cost effective for a number of fans AND App keeps a home game that season.

It really is much closer to Harrisburg and Concord than to what most people think of as Charlotte.AppinVA wrote:Hey! As a native Concordian, please refer to that place as UNC-Harrisburg. The city gets 4 free rentals for events per year. These football games, and the International soccer games being the most common uses.3rd wrote:That's exactly what is most likely happening, when the city of charlotte aggreed to help pay for the upgrade of BoA stadium in the contract there is a number (idk off top of my head) that BoA is used for free. I guess anything is possible.

It should be a fun series. And I'm sure there will be plenty is smack talk as we get closer to the games. Thanks for your fandom Eric! I appreciate you, even if I'm not sold on your alma mater.

It needs to be free. And there needs to be a bunch of them. It isn't that simple if that's what you're getting at with that post.Rekdiver wrote:Let's see....let's use a BUS!Gonzo wrote:We have to find a way to bus thousands of students to Charlotte.

Bernie Sanders - free?
When I was a student the bus trips to Wake weren't free. App students are some of the most affluent in the state, they pay pay $100 bucks for a ticket and bus ride.

Re: ECU vs APP
My guess is since App will still have 6 true home games that year, student tickets for ECU won't be included in their athletic fee. If we could start a student ticket campaign and raise roughly $10,000 that could purchase 200 tickets at $50 per to be given away to the SYC. Or it could be used to pay for a ticket and bus ride for 100 SYC members. It gives us several years to raise the money and incentivize future students to join in hopes of getting a golden ticket. WE must focus on expanding our donor base and getting them hooked early gives App a life long contributor.

Re: ECU vs APP
If it's a Labor Day weekend game, many students will drive home anyway and a lot of those students are from the Mecklenburg area. It's not like 15-20 years ago where you have poor college students. There's a difference between poor and thrifty.
