I am stealing this from T-dog but I agree 100% "Offense was vanilla and Lamb was not good. Eventually he'll have to throw the ball more than 20 yards downfield if teams keep stacking the box against the run. Even some of the short passes were wobbly and had no zip of them."

I believe Texas St. showed how to beat us. Stack the box and let Taylor and our WR's try and beat you. I think the Defense is fine...they gave up 1 touchdown and got a turnover while being on the field for 33+ minutes.
Offense could be vanilla due to personnel on the field. Doubtful the Freshmen WRs have digested the entire playbook at this point.

Very disappointed with the Oline play so far this season. If Taylor's throwing shoulder is banged up, that would explain the number of errant throws and bouncing a few throws short of receivers. We need a full strength QB in the backfield against Wake to have any shot so hopefully Taylor is 100% by Saturday kick. I think a lot of Satt's play calling is a direct result of the limitations with Taylor's arm and weak play by interior of Oline. I'm not sure that that any QB would have the time to throw downfield with the performance of the Oline so far. Very impressed with the resolve of the defense. Hopefully they can recover from being on the field way too long against TS and be 100% against Wake.

Just a note - it is really hard for 5 offensive linemen to block 7 defenders ---

I don't think stacking the box against us is exactly a new strategy.

No it's not, but our OL did a good enough job last season for us to be ranked high nationally in rushing yardage - give the guys time to gel ---

No argument here. I completely agree. I completely agree. I think the flat first half is a direct effect of playing SSU the previous week. Not a strong enough competitor to give us good development reps and a false sense of security. I was glad to see how the guys ultimately reacted and I'm happy with the win. I think we see a more focused team against Wake.
