Look at this below and tell me worrying about all this isn't a waste of time. Look at all these matchups that no matter what happens there will be movement. The only way this weekend is bad for us is if every team receiving votes who faces a top 15-20 team actually wins those games. Then we would have to see Baylor, Minnesota, ASU, Cincy, Washington, and Tulane all win. I don't see all that happening. I don't care about where we are slotted right now simply because in 4 weeks as long as we win we are guaranteed to be ranked. There will be too many teams eliminated.

You could argue that we could be ranked as high as #22 next week this week if we beat ULL by 22 and then if the following teams all take a loss: Virginia, Texas A&M, Baylor, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Washington State, Michigan State, and Tulane all lose. That would basically guarantee us #22 or #23. Do you guys really enjoy monitoring all that and worrying about it?

Reason I ask is because in 4 weeks we will be there anyway if we just keep winning and things play out. There is no way we don't climb as long as we win and look good.

AP Poll out. #28 and 61 votes.

https://apnews.com/APTop25CollegeFootballPoll

I felt we would be 28-29 range and we got 28th in both polls. Interesting that after being a little behind in coaches poll that we are now the same and not far off in votes in both.

I went through and looked at all the games for the weekend and if things go as one would expect we will be #24 or #25 next week as long as we cover the spread. I just spent 2 hours of my life breaking all this down and looking at it. I'm not doing this every week because after doing it I see even more reason why we should stop agonizing over this. We will be ranked when we are ranked. Part of me hopes we win and aren't ranked at all or ranked even higher so people don't ask me to do this all the time LOL.

Just like with UNC. They have every reason to think they can win this game and we have every reason to think we can win. We really need to play in all 3 phases. Nothing would make them happier than to spoil our shot at being ranked and secure the inside track on homefield for the SBC title game.

Good. One less distraction. Now let’s stick it to the Cajuns again and bring ‘em up north in December.

Good point. Probably why Clemson and Alabama lose every week. Too distracted from being ranked.

Those type teams are never distracted because their players, fans, and coaches know they are ranked high and they just have to win to reach their goals. They are also very use to being ranked. We have folks on here who seem to feel their lives would be complete if we are ranked. Nobody should care if we are, or where we are ranked, right now. It will not matter until mid to late November. Things will play out. We just have to win.

And if we lose this whole thread and all this talk will have been a huge waste of time. Let's focus our thoughts on the one thing that is guaranteed. We play ULL this Wednesday. We have folks who are more worried and focus on our rankings than the actual opponent. ULL is a pretty solid team. They are worth our fans knowing about. This game may be a double digit win for us but I know these guys are hungry. ULL is going to give us their best effort compare to anyone they play all year.

How many times does it have to be said that the fans thoughts have no impact on the outcome of the game?

I did not tack them on to the teams worth watching at the bottom of actual ratings because they have 3 losses and don't have a key win yet.

Anyone notice we have 3 AAC teams in the 20-25 range and 4 SEC teams in the top 7? Another reason why these polls even right now don't mean anything. Still not 100% taken out the preseason standing of teams and there is no way either of those hold up. Those AAC teams will eliminate each other and at most we will see 2 of them ranked unless one goes undefeated and the other two only have one loss each along with blowout wins over unranked teams.

There were dozens of college football games yesterday. Neither App nor ULL played in them. Literally nothing new has happened involving either of those teams. There was, OTOH, plenty of news affecting our position in the polls and the NY6 race.

Seriously, we are so far past having anything new to discuss re: ULL that fans from each team are going to the other's message boards, then coming back and complaining about those boards. Wednesday will get here soon enough. Let us talk about college football in the meantime.
