Thanks for the information and clarification. Let's remain hopeful Roof stays in Raleigh.asu66 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:21 am.
That $550K was Roof's compensation while he was at Ga Tech. App could not/would not pay that amount to a coordinator or co-coordinator. $550K is more than one-third of Coach D's entire budget for assistant coaches.
We were paying Brian Brown $200K when he took the redeye flight to Louisville.
Ted Roof is making $200K as the #10 assistant at NC State and could make a max of $300K if he manages to check-off all of the incentives he qualifies for.
Here's the info many of us are freaked out about. Coach D could probably afford Roof's salary under his "cap" for assistant coaching salaries.

Not going to hijack the thread but former basketball assistants under the current coach were extremely frustrated by a lack of what you describe in your final two sentences."Former assistants"ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:29 amSounds like Nic was already offered a position and accepted. Then Clark was retained and he was happy about it. The thing with Drink is it appears that he wants to operate almost like a President and their Cabinet. He is open to changing his views and will adapt his plans to what he has available. One of the most important qualities in a good leader is adaptability.8993 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:13 amI don't know about that. Nic just tweeted about how excited he was that Shawn Clark had been retained yesterday. For somebody who isn't sticking around, that's a weird thing to tweet out.appstate24 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:10 amFootball Scoop reporting Cardwell will not be retained. Football Scoop is very hit or miss. I love Nic Cardwell and was hoping we could find a place for him. GO APPS!!

There are some exciting hires coming right around the corner. Drink is the real deal folks. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Ps- I wish I knew more about the Roof thing, but logically, I’m just not seeing it as a good fit. Especially since we cant pay him close to what he is getting paid now.

Heard Clark turned down an opportunity to almost double his salary to stay here. The culture will continue to thrive here on the Mountain. Eli is already making big impacts in small ways right now from what I hear. Many of my doubts are fading away.
Guys/gals- make an impact and join Yosef Club in any way you can. We are the fuel for this engine and I'm excited about our new driver.

Did you say sit back and enjoy? This deal has absolutely and completely exposed my OCD. But I'm clearly not alone in my misery.
As for Ted Roof, methinks he's a straw man whose name got tossed into the discussion because he's worked with Coach D--not because he's a good fit for our situation. He's just turned 55, but he's now a journeyman coach seemingly on the "down" elevator. He avoided getting fired at GaTech by accepting the NC State position and more than a $300K cut in pay. His GaTech "D" was never above average. He's a dyed-in-the-wool 4-3 guy. We must do better.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

I know nothing on this subject, and some may argue that I know nothing in general, but it feels to me that we may see an announcement of another alum as TE/ST Coach.

Our Coaching staff just 1 year ago. Wow, that’s a lot of change for a winning program. Yet, we have an opportunity to climb even higher AppNation. Keep making good choices Coach Drink.

I was on board after I heard his press conference and seeing his interview at halftime of our game. Wondering who he will get as DC but confident he will get someone who will continue what we have. I just wish he had another 600-800k to spread around to his staff.appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:00 pmJust a hint... Watts will not be WR coach, he is moving to coach the TE....
My gut feeling is that he already knows what App has and expects a year that we have never seen before.
