We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Moving on to Marshall
It definitely looked like Aguilar had a very good handle on Marshall defense. I saw him a couple times looking to sidelines and it looked like he was calling play based on defense. Not sure but he definitely read set up perfectly for a long pass down middle for a first down on both I noticed.
Glad to see Castle back. He looks faster than last year. I did notice he has a tell. He checks his chin strap snaps on runs. Didn't do that on pass/blocking. Someone get word to him on that.

I for one welcome the return of "sandpapering that ass." I'll reserve judgment on our coaching staff until the end of the year but man I'm happy for everyone in Boone tonight.

Student section and Miller Hill A+ tonight.
Those who decided not to show on West side, you missed a great pregame entrance and a damn good game live in action

Re: Moving on to Marshall
I will be happy to give Sloan credit, but we better give Clark credit as well. If we are going to give the coordinators a pass and blame only Clark for poor coaching then we sure as shit better give Clark credit for good coaching turnaround. On offense and defense things have changed and I will give the entire staff credit.Bootsy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:04 pmGive Sloan the credit...his goal in developing the "star" scheme was figuring out a way to put the best defensive talent on the field. Looks like our kids are figuring out the "star."Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 6:41 pmAmazingly it took 8 games for the coaches to figure out how to put fast guys in space.
And we seem to call fair catch on the punt as soon as it's kicked

It wasn't that long ago this season that MANAY posters on here said Marshall and JMU would eat our lunch, now all of a sudden Marshall is too bad to even feel good about the win? I agree that Marshall looks bad. It looks like a team that quit on their coach, a team where the coach lost the locker room, a team with nothing to play for, a team that has NOTHING in common with APP STATE FOOTBALL!!!! As bad as it has been, our team has never quit, and I really believe we turned the corner last week and will win out. Get ready for a great ride.

I actually have some optimism because of this. Clearly Joey was the bright spot all along and Horn/Robinson have been great. Add in Davis' playmaking ability and Tucker, we should've been Pass first for weeks.CoachRob wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 8:36 pmThe biggest "must have" adjustment to turn the year around by the coaching staff IMO. All is not lost if the team can improve on this adjustment and defense plays like they did tonight.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 8:25 pmIt def was more of an air raid. Re: Moving on to Marshall
I get your point- but Marshall was running strong 4 games in and we looked like we couldn't stop a PeeWee team until this week. It was fair to objectively say we would've got pounded.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 9:23 pmappstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:39 pmIf Marshall didn't look so horrible, I'd have taken a few steps closer to optimism around Clark. App showed life today, Marshal looked awful and undisciplined. We didn't really come out the gate on fire, but Marshals inability to get any momentum favored us and we capitalized. But, as I've said before, I want to see us string wins together. SouthernMiss and Marshall have been sliding hard and they only have 1 win each in conference. Georgia State is a step up in conference, so let's see how we fair there and then properly evaluate. Big thing is we decidedly beat a team we should've.

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Played from the first whistle.
Used the weapons available in the passing game.
Dline had a party in the backfield.
DBs closed on the ball.
Carried the ball with two hands in traffic.
Zero turnovers.
Felt like I just got back home from watching an App State game for the first time in over a year.
Congrats, very happy for this staff and team tonight.

Re: Moving on to Marshall
100%. I have wondered if the pressure got to the coaches and they realized they better stop being hard headed and shake things up. The offense was much better in terms of creativity and the defense handled the run so much better. We got to be able to handle the run to be successful this month and we looked like we can do it.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 9:31 pmI actually have some optimism because of this. Re: Moving on to Marshall
Interesting how some posters change tune after a victory. In my few posts on different football topics I expressed never agreed to "fire Clark" posts. The staff and head coach have made adjustments as needed in every game. The main difference last week and tonight is that players listened and executed what was asked from them. Result: no turnovers, positive yardage, better defense, and VICTORY!!!

With Noel not at 100%, it’s a good thing to have a deep RB room.
With Horn not at 100%, it’s great to see how other WR’s are stepping up.
Eli Wilson is a legitimate possession receiver, not to mention having a mean streak. I like it.

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Some folks seem puzzled by a pass heavy strategy, but App was exactly like this during our championship years. Take what the defense gives you and beat them with it! That's what good teams do. We are capable of running or throwing. This is what gives us a chance in our remaining games. The Star D using zone instead of man coverage was MUCH better. The guys played their assignments and we see the results. I don't expect everyone to be convinced...yet. I think we will get there though. BELIEVE. GO APPS!

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Nice to finally have a game decided before 0:00 on the clock. No doubt, this was more like App State football. The players looked like they found the chips on their shoulders. Students and crowd have been great all year and deserved this one. Minus a run or two, the run defense was solid. Marshall is free-falling but they still have some athletes. I’ll feel much better when we stop a winning team with a passing game, but for now, I’ll just enjoy this one.

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Great showing last night. The thing I noticed from the jump was our sideline. Someone gave a mandate or something, because the bench was bringing great energy and being there for their team all night. This has been lacking most the year and I think contributed to our better D play. Emotion and enthusiasm are not to be discounted on how a team plays. Not sure how this showed on TV, but those at the game know exactly what I’m talking about.
