Roster Updates

I would give it a day or two for them to clean it up before I count anyone out. That's why I haven't made a full update and a copy of the new 17'-18' roster yet. Still a few mistakes (ex. Parker Collins is listed as a Gr. at OL but he's played his four years. Played 10 games his Fr year, full seasons after that. He's in grad school, and while I would love to have him for another year I know of no reason he could receive a 5th year. Going to have to check on that one). I'll know more soon on it all.

It doesn't make sense for him to not compete for an NFL spot unless he has chosen to forego that opportunity for personal reasons. If Daniel Kilgore and Lamm can make it in the pros, there is no doubt that Collins could contribute. That would lead one to ask, if he has the desire to play professionally, why is he hanging around Boone if his collegiate days are over?

Did y'all switch to the 2017 roster?

Now that I see FM's post, I know he switched over to the 2017 roster. Hopefully it's just kinks in the system and he'll be back on it soon. A 5th year for Collins would be nice, but don't believe that to be possible.

That would lead one to ask, if he has the desire to play professionally, why is he hanging around Boone if his collegiate days are over?

It's called grad school. Plenty of pro players get their advanced degrees, even while playing ball. Last word was he is going to workout at Pro Day and will take a shot. He knows the odds and he's planning for his future. I believe that's called smart thinking.

As for Hopkins, and the reason I said we might want to wait a day or two before going off the rails, is that last word had him at the first practice Monday. Unless he left the team between then and yesterday, which is possible, then he's still there. You'll also note that they have Harrington listed twice. I'll do my usual update when it actually looks like it's cleaned up and correct.

I waited to get confirmation but I can now say that Deltron Hopkins has left the program with the intent to transfer. He was at the first two practices of spring but has decided to leave. Strange to decide now but it might be footsteps from behind. Word is that Virgil and Evans (also working RB as well but with Upshaw, Boyd, and Williams all practicing then Evans will see more at the slot, like last fall) are working the slot along with Lewis and Jones. And Virgil, Evans, and Lewis can all run the jet sweeps. I would not be surprised at all to also see Jake Easter moving from QB to slot WR with our two Rs QB's hitting the field now, and with his speed and ball skills on the ground he could run it as well. I would also expect to see some time from a couple of our incoming freshmen. Williams and Henry both have the skills to do everything we need from our slot guys. We'll deal.

I will post some more when the roster has been cleaned up.

I'm going to jump on top of this before anyone else hits a panic button and causes a ten page thread, which face it, it's become pretty easy on this board. Scot Sloan has been added as Co-DC/Recruiting Coordinator to the list of coaches at the bottom of the CURRENT roster page (the 2017-18 one you have to hit the drop down arrow and switch up to get, since it defaults to this past years roster still) but Nate Woody looks to be gone.....that is until you look at the actual players roster. He's now listed there. Actual listing from the roster page below.

Unless NW has figured out he's got a year of eligibility left and decided to play for us next year in addition to his Co-DC role I'm guessing this is a mistake. Just like there aren't two Daetrich Harringtons (although I'm sure we would love to have two) and Parker Collins still being listed even though he's done. Just found it amusing and thought I would share. Plus also wanted to stop the panic if someone happened to see NW not listed at the bottom. The actual coaches BIO page still hasn't changed either. NW is there as usual and Scot is still showing as Secondary/Recruiting Coordinator. Each day a little more changes so hopefully it will be all straight one day.
