We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. I don’t necessarily think that it is fear. We are not an easy win this year for anyone. Seniors and experience everywhere. We aren’t going to allow for depth to get snaps because of the score. That is how the P5 coaches are going to look at it.

I agree. I hear the "fear" word thrown around a lot by fans, and I understand what they are saying but I don't think that's the case either. Coaches and ADs have specific needs when scheduling. Sometimes they want a tough opponent and sometimes they want a W where they can play some depth. It's about fitting the situation. Unfortunately, App doesn't fit that situational need for many this year.

And many times it is scheduling to become bowl eligible -

With shortage of teams and not full schedule, we need to play two bowl games this year, one before Christmas and one after, two big checks for Sun Belt to divide up!!!

It will be interesting to see what gets a team "bowl eligible" this year. Consider BYU has only 4 games on schedule right now.

I feel there is little hope of this happening, but ESPN should move our two mid-week games to help us with scheduling flexibility. No reason for any game to be on Tuesday or Wednesday. nights this year. If they would move one game to a Saturday, we would have another Saturday date for flexibility to possible be able to schedule a P3 or someone like BYU or Army in the middle of the season. I’m not holding my breath.

I generally don't like mid-week games, however with limited viewing options a mid-week game might possibly draw a much larger viewing audience

ESPN and conference execs have been selling mid-week games with that line for years but the ratings just aren’t there. Thursday night P5 matchups get decent numbers but outside of that the ONLY reason to play mid week games is for the money.

Well there certainly isn't as much competition for watching - I bet the NFL will not do Thu games and baseball will be over and basketball - who knows - we are down 2 G5 leagues and 2 P5 leagues

Let's also think about the number of bowl games available (how many will want to operate at a limited or no capacity), and the number of D1 teams not participating in the fall season. It's completely possible if the season get played in it's entirety the only bowl games played would be the NY6 and the "playoffs". Just add all this to the "wait and see" list.

That's what I've been thinking also.

It seems to be the CW on here that we need to work on the schedule and take advantage of the big name teams whose usual partners have ditched the season or at best decided on an in-conference only season. I seem to be the only one who greatly fears that of NO season unless it begins in January, February, or even March. Am I exaggerating the dismal outlook for anything even resembling a normal season? Seems like some on here, those who are usually in the know, mentioning whole conferences who are forgoing the season. Would someone with better researching skills and more patience recap and list the conferences and'or individual programs, (or at least list those who are left standing), those who have ditched the whole season, decided to delay until Spring/early Summer, or playing an abbreviated season.

As a last resort, do you think there is a chance we may play The Citadel in Charleston on 9/4? They are trying to play a four game OOC schedule and already have Clemson on the schedule if they can field a team. Perhaps we could trade them this game and not pay them for their future trip to Boone in a couple years. I know it’s not normally done this way, but these are unusual times. Again, I hope we can do better, but if it comes to this or only play 10 or 11 games I would take this.

All these teams would be great teams to play EXCEPT for 1 thing......... they have to not be afraid to lose to App... All of them know we have an opening, NONE have returned a call..... we have 4, i said 4, ACChickens in our own state that wont play us.

Nobody knows what is going on behind the scenes. We are a victim of our own success. It may be difficult to schedule games we want and would like to see. Let our AD do his job. No matter what our schedule turns out to look like, we need to trust that every possible scenario that makes sense for us has been fully explored. Charlotte, Liberty and a few others are getting games for a reason. We have 2 spots to fill and some possibilities for filling them. Let’s just see what happens. We may be pleasantly surprised. It’s great to be a Mountaineer!

I wouldn’t call UNC or Wake chickens. They have scheduled us and have agreed to play in Boone. Duke and especially NC State. Definitely chickens but everyone knows why.
