With the incredible season Marcus had and with Upshaw in the wings, it is exciting to know that the RB position is returning to its place on the App State football scene. With the apparent arrival of some quality RBs in this recruiting class, it looks good for the future as we transition.firemoose wrote:I just added his mid-season hudl package to his page and was watching the clip. Tucker was injured most of the season. Probably wants to get out while he is still healthy. Can't blame him.WVAPPeer wrote:Probably just going ahead and graduating like Anderson and Scott did last year - before they decided to come back for their final season of eligibility ---AppRy wrote:Did I catch on the post game that Tucker Lee is "moving on from the program"? Re: Recruiting, 2014
From everything I've read so far everyone was very happy and really enjoyed the game, even with the weather. All the usual comments about the staff and facilities. Harley did not commit but it's not a surprise as he has stated he wouldn't commit until January and he still has an official to USF coming up Dec 13th. He may commit somewhere after that visit but it will be between then and Jan. He still had a good time here. I still think we've got a good chance at him.mtnjax wrote:Moose, you seeing much reaction from the visitors that were there on saturday?
On another note Chandler Greer is this year's Dante Jones. If everybody remembers he was the cheerleader for last years class, tweeting everyone and developing relationships with his teammates for the 17' class. Greer is doing the same this year. He's been here several times and talks about it with the others a lot. I really love that. Makes them more than a class but a unit as they come in. Gives them a support system among each other. That is so important as many will be friends already when they arrive.

One of our recruiting targets from Pascagoula, Miss., has posted a photo on his Twitter account showing him getting love from the best fans on God's Green Earth last weekend.

He's from Mississippi, but yeah saw that earlier. Would be a big get for the coaching staff and a boost to our WR corps for sureAppGrad78 wrote:One of our recruiting targets from Pascagoula, La., has posted a photo on his Twitter account showing him getting love from the best fans on God's Green Earth last weekend.

I saw him at the game Saturday and he is very tall. If Canty stays and we add him, that would be a very big receiving group.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
From reports WR/KR Montez McGuire (6′ 1″ 212) of Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA has had an offer from App for a while and, as I stated in the Western Game Visitors thread, he came to the game with current teammate and top App target ILB LeGrande Harley. He is indeed a former teammate of our Parker Collins also. I have listed him on the Main Page and placed a player page up for him. He's rated a two star by Rivals and has a reported offer from South Alabama. Reports are he's very interested in App and if he's commits that could be good news since he came to the game with Harley and could help us to secure a commit from him as well. I added KR to his listing since I saw a video clip from his time at North Augusta and he was returning kicks there.
Also wanted to add that APB Richardre Bagley (5' 8" 175) of Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, GA came to the Western game. If that school sounds familiar look back up a few posts and you see he's a teammate of new App offer WR Omar Black. He attended the game with him. I'm not seeing an offer yet but there is some apparent interest.
The next silly season has begun. App fans should be used to it right now as, for the past 20+ years, this is the usual time when our offers started pouring out. Only difference is this year we already have 18 commits. I feel we'll lose a few but most appear to be solid. We'll do our best to keep everyone updated on offers, commits, de-commits, and news in the next few weeks.

If we can pick up Eaton, Black, and McGuire, I won't feel bad about losing Canty or Hopkins should they decommit

Why are we talking about losing Canty? isn't he already in school at App? Is he talking about leaving for some reason? Maybe I missed something.
Oops! Sorry...I was thinking about Capel. Nevermind.

My younger son goes to high school with Chandler. Good kid and regularly wears App shirts. He's definitely solid and assisting in the recruitment of others.firemoose wrote:On another note Chandler Greer is this year's Dante Jones. Re: Recruiting, 2014
Looks like QB Penny Smith, a top target for App, will be getting an in home visit next week. I would expect that his teammate RB Daryl Rollins, also a top target, will get one as well. As I've said before these teammates want to play together, both hold offers from App, and reportedly are high on our list. And from all I've read they have us very high on their lists. I believe these two would be great gets for us and I would love to wrap these two up and solidify both the QB and RB positions for this class along with commits QB JP Caruso and RB Josh Boyd.

along with those 2, i hope to see the WRs we had in this weekend offer their commitments as well along with Harley. i think that would solidify our class for 2014

Re: Recruiting, 2014
If signing day was tomorrow I believe we would sign all three that are listed above. Lots can change between now and then but I'm not too worried about WR because there are several waiting in the wings who seem to want to come here and we have tons of offers out. Plus we have two that sat this year who, I believe, will do a good job of filling the shoes of our departing Sr's. Others will have to step up to fill the leadership roles of all of our seniors but Jones and Capel are going to be playmakers for us.mtnjax wrote:along with those 2, i hope to see the WRs we had in this weekend offer their commitments as well along with Harley. i think that would solidify our class for 2014
We all know we have some liquid commits right now and I believe the staff has plans for backups for all but one. We can find one for that one too but I don't think it's high on the board right now. BUT I have some news on one of those liquid commits that I am trying to confirm. There MIGHT be a little ice forming on the edges, if you know what I mean. We'll see. Still a LONG way to go and it's going to get a bit crazy.

We can't afford to sign all of these WR, QB, RBs this year as we need IMO 3 more OL and 3 more DL commits.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
With the numbers being thrown around we will have room if the staff shares your opinion that we need 3 more linemen on each side (we will bring in more but can we find 6 more worthy is the question, NT being the biggest need on the D line). There is no way we come out of this without at least two QB's, two RB's, and three WR's.Saint3333 wrote:We can't afford to sign all of these WR, QB, RBs this year as we need IMO 3 more OL and 3 more DL commits.
By all reports this class will be between 25 and 30, shading towards the higher side (I know the rule is 25 max but teams go over that all the time. Tenn has 33 commits and Miami has 28 right now, and that's just in the 10 ten. We are transitional so the rules are more relaxed to allow us to reach 85). We have 18 commits right now but that number will go down. My feeling is that 15 is closer to the real number and a couple of those are soft. We're really just about half way there.
We've got 2 Jr's that have left that were on scholarship but Critcher just picked one of those up, as he should. We also have some PWO's from last year that will be taken care of but how many stay and how it's handled is still open. That number of 25-30 that is floating around is class size so it appears that some plans are already in place for those others. Who knows what they are.
Everybody calm down and realize that this is going to be the crazy season for the next two months. The numbers are going to be fluid and change almost daily. We are going to have more commits, some de-commits, some leave the program and a transfer or two come in (happens every year) and we have more room this year than ever before. I don't think we will truly know the final numbers until after signing day but I will try and keep up as best as I can.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
considering that we've already had a QB decommit and the 2 WRs we have committed so far are just as likely to decommit, WR and QB are just as needed. and 2 RBs this class won't hurt either b/c, we don't have a lot there either past Marcus and UpshawSaint3333 wrote:We can't afford to sign all of these WR, QB, RBs this year as we need IMO 3 more OL and 3 more DL commits.
I think we're actually set at DL since we already have 3 commits. maybe just need more NT
I still believe we are going after some OL as well. we do seem to have a lot of Freshmen on the roster though that were probably shirted, so we may be fine there
moving to 85 scholarships, we pretty much need everything

I'm pretty calm actually.
Just pointing out that we need more lineman.
Who are the juniors that will not be back?
