Clark could land with the Pack. Doeren loves him and his kids went to App.

We better have someone hired by the end of the week if we'll be way behind on recruiting.

“Out of the Box” option…Ken Dorsey…spent 5 weeks in Boone as offensive assistant hired by Drink. Stint with Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, & now Browns OC. Pay him 2M 💵 & give him the reigns! Here’s what he said about App State…

"In my time in Carolina, I was fortunate to experience what great fans, alumni and students App State has. App State has exceptional tradition, exceptional student-athletes and a die-hard fan and alumni base that makes it a special place.”

Let’s Go! Just saying! 😁

So based on Doug’s track record of hires, it won’t be any of these guys. The Mickey Conn option is interesting. Mickey is Chase Brice’s uncle. I know of another Assistant Coach of a P5 that is interested. I wonder if Doug will interview him.

I’d recommend listening to Stonewall for someone that has actual connections in the know.

Maybe it’s time for a HC from the defensive side of the ball who hires a top notch OC who is allowed near total control of the offensive reins.

Doesn’t sound like much of a national search

Why search for what you already know you want?

Do we know that Steve Wilks is unavailable?
It was rare for any coach who has spent time in the NFL to come back to college as a head coach. Recruiting was a year round job they didnt want to deal with again. Now add in the transfer portal and NIL and it has become much worse. Most likely scenario for a return would be to a P5 alma mater. I also think the older they are the less likely it happens.
Good reasons why he would not want to come. Now let's hear about why we want him.

I have no inside knowledge, but if this has been brewing for 3+ weeks, it’s plenty possible that a list of viable candidates was prepared from all over and all the vetting was already done. It’s even possible that initial discussions took place yesterday and today with multiple candidates.

Again, I know nothing any nothing, just playing devils advocate.

ECU has their guy, Charlotte will announce theirs by Wednesday at the latest. This is obviously something that you can not rush, but yeah with the portal about to open we can’t take too much time. I could definitely see a coach being in place by sometime this weekend.

Now that's a deep cut from the evergreen App Guy coach search list. Might as well throw a Tim Horton mention out there too.

Funny enough, I actually did google him earlier today. But $2 million isn't happening, and NFL OC probably isn't either.

The staff found out per twitter/X through Pete Thamel. - No coincidence in Pete Thamel releasing this tweet and DG/JR walking into the NEZ right before 2pm. DG is very calculated.

The players met with DG/JR/Sears at 2pm

A closed door meeting happened before 2pm with the GM of the program - most likely was given a temporary juicy contract for 45 days to keep recruiting class and players around.

Also earlier in the day apparently one NIL contact was meeting with players offering deals without knowing #TeamClark (Sad day for Shawn and family and his staff and their families) was being let go.

Not sure when Clark was told of the news, I would assume his agent was contacted and broke it to him, and most likely told him not to go into work or contact anyone based on small print in the buyout.

Interviews for the job will most likely start this week per zoom, then 4/5 will meet in CLT hotel with DG and his posse.

Very doubtful anyone comes to Boone until contract is signed and press conference is set, I am guessing by Dec 17 a coach will be named, therefore everyone can have a Merry Christmas.

Great time to be a High Country Real Estate agent!
Who are JR and Sears?
Jonathan Reeder and Stacy Sears -- I'll let you search athletics staff directory for titles and faces with names.

Not sure Tim would want to leave his restaurant chain gig to coach football.

It’s funny listening to NCSU fans…they can’t stand Doeren and wish he was on his way out.
But I wouldn’t want him up on the mountain in any situation. He’s always looked down on App.
