Wholeheartedly agree with this. I could not and still don't understand how a very small but vocal minority were ok with the direction the program was heading.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 11:50 amI felt the exact same way with how we did not adjust. As time goes on I think those who did not think a change needed to happen and laughed at the Loggains hire might realize their opinions aged very poorly.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 11:40 amWe looked like a modern day football team. We had a designed quarterback run play....this is big. Quarterbacks have to run to win in college football. It was a shotgun spread 5 wide receivers, but it was a quarterback run all the way. Made my day.
The offense was fun to watch. Plays going all over the place.
We threw the ball to the running back out of the back field.
All of these point to a well coached team. Coaches are going to win games in this new college football era and I think we are on to something. GREAT JOB COACH LOGGAINS. Great Job AD Gillin. Great Job AppNation showing up and being loud.
p.s. we should not sign another game in Panthers stadium without a big payday. 90/ticket to a huge amount of App Fans. They need us.

Well I'm going to go ahead and put the cart before the horse.....how are we going to keep Coach Dlo? What I saw last night was just awesome. I felt like we could compete with anyone. It didn't feel like I was watching Boone Community College play. Night and day! I LOVE IT!

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
I wanted to give Shawn the benefit of doubt, because he did have to deal with some extraordinary unusual circumstances early on in his tenure. I think many of us had hope that issues had been addressed with our solid finish to the 2023 season, but it fell apart quickly last year. It's too bad it ended that way for an alum, but there was no way to defend the results two of the last three seasons.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 11:50 amI felt the exact same way with how we did not adjust. I give Loggains a lot of credit but beyond his coaching I got a feeling that he made some outstanding hires that are helping him a ton, which is a big part of being a head coach. I believe the Clyde Christensen, Kevin Higgins, and Bob Sanders hires in the roles we have them are paying off big time. DJ did very well in his debut and made me very proud of him as well!
Time to look forward though!

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Why torture yourself on this? We are 1-0 and got a long way to go before this happens. If we end up 6-6 or 7-5 people who spent time worrying about this will feel dumb for it haha. If we start the year 6-0 then I will definitely allow this to creep into my mind. All I am worried about now is staying healthy and beating Lindenwood like a drum next weekend. lolASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 3:59 pmWell I'm going to go ahead and put the cart before the horse.....how are we going to keep Coach Dlo? Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
I understand that thought in 2023 but I was more talking about the folks who still wanted to keep the staff late in 2024. It was clear by the South Alabama that we had to make a change. He had to deal with a lot of unusual circumstances but so did everyone else. It is how you deal with them and our staff did not do it. Shawn's biggest problem was the hires. I think Loggains cleaned out all the bad hires that Shawn made and he has made some terrific ones. Definitely looking forward. Hopefully we can clean up a lot of stuff and get a look at everyone on roster next weekend because things are about to get real in the following 3 games. Southern Miss is going to be a quality opponent for us.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 4:03 pmI wanted to give Shawn the benefit of doubt, because he did have to deal with some extraordinary unusual circumstances early on in his tenure. Yes, Lindenwood is an FCS school, and you can count 1 FCS win toward bowl eligibility. Hopefully, we are sitting on a lot more than 6 wins at the end of the season.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 3:09 pmWith the high school career he had, how did Barnes end up at Austin Peay?

I’ll let you know on 10/5 just how much this team improved. UNCC is likely one of the worst three teams we’ll face this year.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
That is how I feel. All we know is that we look better coached but we still have a lot of things to clean up. It would be crazy to talk playoffs, SBC title, losing Loggains because he is going to have a huge year, etc at this point. Too much we don't know. Could we be a top 25 team this year? Sure. It is just way too early to even know because, like you said, Charlotte is one of the 3-4 worst teams we will play.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Call me crazy. Heck, I have been waiting to see a well-coached team for too long, so I am going all in after just one game against a terrible opponent. And the best part is that I get to keep these over inflated views for a least another week because we will dominate next week.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 4:52 pmThat is how I feel. Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
They have been full FCS since 23-24 so I see no reason why not? I have not heard about a change in the rules. OVC is a full FCS scholly conference the last I heard.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 3:09 pmWith the high school career he had, how did Barnes end up at Austin Peay?

Florida is playing Long Island University from the NEC. The NEC at one time was low on scholly count but I think that changes a few years ago. No way Florida would play LIU unless it counted.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
I try to keep a level head because I don't want to get grey hair too soon. We made a lot of errors that would have gotten us beat if we played someone good. The biggest thing I take from the game is that from a speed and talent standpoint we showed to be superior so if we can clean up some things we have a chance to be good.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 6:32 pmCall me crazy. Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
They do indeed count. There are a ton of schools like LIU, Lindenwood, etc who use to be D2 5-15 years ago that are now FCS. Tarleton State is one of them but they beat Army and they will be a school we would want, like I was saying over the summer. I think the American should have invited them over Charlotte to be honest.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 6:43 pmThey have been full FCS since 23-24 so I see no reason why not?
