The tradition of wearing all black for home games is still intact. No one wants that to change, but having a fan base that embraces a neutral color game and trendy neutral colored uniforms every once in a while is a big deal to recruits and our current players.

I just spent way too much on a white polo from the bookstore site (it looks damn good tho, I have to admit) because our seniors deserve a special send-off. I don't really think you can tell Marcus Cox or John Law that they're flouting "our" tradition. This is something special that they can remember about their last year after they leave App.

With that said, this will fail without a doubt, but I needed an excuse to get some new gear anyways (who wouldn't want a white hat with a block A on it?? Honestly)

Anybody that gives to Yosef club is considered a booster...
Fully aware of that. But when a paper identifies him as a booster, it makes it sound like Thomas is throwing lots of cash at the program. I have no idea if he's throwing any at the program but I highly doubt the paper called him and asked him.
A booster isn't exclusively defined by financial contributions. It includes anyone who has been "involved in promoting the institution's athletics program." I would guess T-Dog's writing on this and other sites might qualify him, perhaps even his Twitter feed itself.

That's helpful. Maybe it's just me but I found it funny they called him a booster only because I felt like no research was done to see if he actually is a booster. Further - reading some of his articles it's hard to tell if he truly meets the definition of a booster. Anyone remember his article on the S&C supplements?

I just cackled a bit but I guess most all of us whether we give or not meet the definition of a booster.

Why are we even talking about this? It's done, over, finis, kaput. I love all of you my App brethren but damn. Give this a rest. Move the hell on.

We've worn uniforms that weren't all black last year and in years past as well.

Since you asked - though this is probably all back on pages 1-3 of this thread:

Black Saturday. Black has always (last 30 yrs at least) been a part of App football in Boone. The club football team was even called "Black Death." It wasn't until the modern era that Black Saturday is designated as a single game. Historically, Black Saturday was every home game during the season. Recently, Satterfield even referred to himself being a "Traditionalist" and preferring to wear black.

Wearing black in Boone is akin to:
#'s on Bama's helmet
Tenn's checkerboard endzones
UGA's silver britches

Our marketing dept historically (new and old), has been seemingly in search of creating tradition. Yet we do have tradition and keeps being subjected to change.

Look, I am not opposed to a one game change - especially if at the players request. Personally, I Just don't like this game and the choice of white for it. ODU had a white out last year when we played them. It is one of their primary colors. It reeks of copycat. Just like the piped in music over powering everything the game
Immediately after we played at Montana and them doing the very same thing.

Given the tradition referred to above, The cherry on top is there is something about the possibility of another team wearing black in Boone... It just ain't right.

Nonetheless it is what it is and as Satterfield says, "they better win or we'll never see those uniforms again"

News here in the tidewater region had a segment about ODU's black uniforms tonight and made no mention of ODU wearing them against us. Doesn't mean they won't, but it's not like everyone is pointing at our game for their debut.

I'm aware of that, but that doesn't mean wearing all black isn't our tradition. It still is. It always will be.
