Re: Toledo Board
Toledo's a good team and a good program. They beat Arkansas last year and spent most of the season in the top 25, so maybe some of their fans thought that would be the norm for them now.
I doubt they're the first fan base that we've left bitter, and they won't be the last. Another notch on the belt, another trophy in the case. Onward and upward.

Re: Toledo Board
I might have to go read their board a little just for a chuckle but my initial thought is that, if they truly believe they are such a superior program, they should have their AD call us and schedule a home and home immediately. It should be an easy win for them and we could put this whole debate to rest. I would not be nearly as nervous in a rematch as I was before this game. I gave their "high powered" offense a lot of credit, and they were in fact good. We handled them pretty well though and we won with less than our "A" game on offense (passing game was struggling because of drops). Their D is average at best.JTApps1 wrote:I love their fans lecturing us on how we are just an average FBS team while they somehow think they are top tier. Sounds like the crowd over on the AAC board claiming they are in the "P6."
I would actually love to see this home and home. Maybe it could help shut the Red Wolf fans up as well.

Maybe Doug can get us a date in Columbus, so we can complete our Ohio state championship.

Re: Toledo Board
Interesting that you bring up Appfan, and I admit, I love a good conspiracy theory rumor but I'm convinced that that website is controlled by Georgia Southern fans and that there are some Georgia Southern posters posing as App State football fans. I'd be sorely disappointed if some of the negativity that gushes from some of the posts (and articles) are from App State people. Or maybe Charlie Cobb is posting to try throw some hate on what's got to be one of (if not the best ever) succesfull transitions from FCS to FBS in the histrory of college football.Rekdiver wrote:Whew!!!! There's also Miami (Ohio) to take down...but I don't think they're as good as Toledo, Akron or Ohio...but would love to complete the sweep.MAD Doctor wrote:Maybe Doug can get us a date in Columbus, so we can complete our Ohio state championship.

What about Cincinnati? Perhaps someone on App's staff might have a little extra motivation for that one.Rick83 wrote:There's also Miami (Ohio) to take down...but I don't think they're as good as Toledo, Akron or Ohio...but would love to complete the sweep.MAD Doctor wrote:Maybe Doug can get us a date in Columbus, so we can complete our Ohio state championship.

Re: Toledo Board
Oh yeah! Forgot about them...so we've still got some work to do in Ohio. Speaking of the state of Ohio, I remember going to the NCAA basketball tournament first round game in Nashville (Buzz years) when we played Ohio State...their fans were somewhat obnoxious. We didn't fare so well in that game but Nashville was fun.EastHallApp wrote:What about Cincinnati? Re: Toledo Board
Funny you say that because I've felt over the last two years that Ohio folks seem to to be a little chippy and taunt-y. Then it made sense why everyone hates Ohio State and no one really minds Michigan.Rick83 wrote:Oh yeah! Forgot about them...so we've still got some work to do in Ohio. Re: Toledo Board
I think that's more because Michigan has been mostly irrelevant nationally for the past 15 years or so (before Harbaugh got there) whereas Ohio State has played for the national title a bunch of times in that span. Toledo is practically in Michigan anyway - it's probably more UM country than OSU.HeffnerIV wrote:Funny you say that because I've felt over the last two years that Ohio folks seem to to be a little chippy and taunt-y. Re: Toledo Board
Ohio and Toledo were both cocky and mouthy. But.....where did it get them? Was awesome last year against Ohio when that #51 left the field a loser. He was singing a different song going off at halftime. Poetic justice.

Re: Toledo Board
I didn't really notice any issues with Toledo's team during the game, and the few Toledo fans I encountered were all friendly.

I did like their fans. Just thought some of the players talked too much to our players. I think they sat one of their players for a while because of that.
