It's written in the contracts generally in H-H deals that the away team brings their conference ref's./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Miami game had ACC officials if I remember correctly. Could be a different story if we have ACC refs in a close game with Wake.asu66 wrote:Trust me. This will be a Ron Wellman show. Wake will treat it like going to a third-world nation to bring a little culture to the natives. They'll come in arrogant and aloof, expecting to get an easy win and pig-out at The Peddler afterward.
It'll be interesting for T-Dog to dig into the contract to see if Wake demanded ACC refs. That one thing could be the difference in a close contest.

I tried to make these generalized perception points, not necessarily how you and I feel - However, with that being said - THIS IS A MUST WIN FOR THE GROWTH OF APP FOOTBALL - or it's going to be perceived as - "COME ON MAN, YOU COULDN'T BEAT WAKE FOREST IN BOONE - DON'T TELL ME HOW GOOD YOU ARE, BECAUSE YOU AREN'T"
Wake has a benefit to scheduling us.....
They will sell over 5,000 more tickets at $40 a pop than their average home games so that will be a nice $200,000 bonus in their coffers. That is not chump change. WF is not exactly rolling in money in their athletic department. They only averaged about 26k for most home games last year. Only years when Clemson, NC, NCSU or ND travel to WS do they produce above 30k in ticket sales. We need to treat this like a home game when we visit WS in 2020! Hopefully, there will be more home and homes between us as they make more $ in ticket sales when we help them put 35k in their stadium and they save big money in travel coming to Boone in 2017. Go AppState! #AppState

Re: Next season's Wake game
Going to be the first game I attend since I was enrolled at App, definitely hoping for a great game and a win!
I don't think we're going to make as big a deal about Wake as we did Miami, we psyched ourselves out long before the opening whistle of that game. Wake should be a win for us, and hopefully we can start scheduling more P5 schools in Boone.

Re: Next season's Wake game
If we want to continue our progression as a program, Wake is a must-win game. That sounds silly, but it's absolutely the truth. We've rode the Michigan win coat tails long enough, we need to start picking off some of the low tier P5 teams.

Re: Next season's Wake game
I really don't like the term "must win." A loss in this game does not END our progress or destroy anything. It would be another huge opportunity missed and it would certainly be a set back in the overall image of our program, but it wouldn't be a death blow to anything. This is a "Need to win" game to be sure. I know...just semantics but bothers me when these things get over stated so regularly.
I do think we need to win some games against P5 schools in order to take further steps. I just think that is more of a general statement about our collective future opponents than about any single game.
