Re: UNCCH to Boone?
This game alone opens the flood gates. We should now be able to get Duke and State to play us in Boone as well.
The job Doug and his staff have done putting our out of conference schedule together has been incredible. Within the first decade we will have had the following teams come to Boone: Miami, UNC, Wake, Southern Miss, ODU, Marshall, Akron, Wyoming and Charlotte. We will also have several drivable P5 road games.

Re: UNCCH to Boone?
I would love to beat them anytime in anything. Beating them in wrestling this year was one of my highlights. As much as I would love to see them get the death penalty, and as much as I think they deserve it, I can't see the NCAA putting their darling through that. If the NCAA was looking at this case objectively and not through their baby blue glasses then some kind of strict punishment would have already happened. So far they haven't gotten more than a slap on the wrist.ASU3432Mi wrote:Hope we get a chance to beat them before they get NCAA death penalty.CheckYosef94 wrote:I've always had a special place in my heart for HATING the Cheaters of the Hill. Anybody that thinks our bowl games are meaningless should think again. We are building a brand, and our bowl success has to be playing a big part in our OCC scheduling victories.

One by one every argument anti-FBS people made are being proven wrong. We're building new rivalries, getting good G5 teams coming to Boone, getting multiple in-state P5 in Boone, winning bowls, and winning conference championships. I can't wait until we crack the top 25!Rekdiver wrote:I think even those who decried moving to FBS will smile with this news. I just pray we are not going through a coaching transition then.

Re: UNCCH to Boone?
With the cost of "money games" getting higher and higher, P5s are deciding it makes more financial sense to play a home and home than pay for a one-time visit from G5s. Basically, other than schools that bring in 75,000 plus regularly for home games (ballpark anyway), visiting G5s is becoming the norm.yosef13 wrote:Welcome to the new normal. Re: UNCCH to Boone?
I know its the 'nature of the scheduling beast,' but I wish we didn't have to wait 5 years for games like this. And I know that our dance card is full, but I wish we didn't have to wait...When we win these games it will make it worth the wait.
Initially, I was a guy who didn't want to move up. I wanted to be the big fish. After attending a SoCon game last season (at a former rival) and getting games like this. I have completely changed my mind.

Re: UNCCH to Boone?
Do you have to be a party pooper? But you are spot on right....This is the drawback and as far as the home games and neutral sites ala ECU at Charlotte.....They gotta be careful deciding on those price points because we ain't THERE yet. So, too steep pricing could cause some drawback....I think we have been pushing the needle as it is.Rekdiver wrote:Gents the cost of admission is going to go up so get ready. Went to the UNC Scout free board, those guys are mixed on the series. More are against it than for it, but not by a lot. Pros are that it's in state, better than FCS, and they will finally be able to sell tickets. Cons are the same old arguments that they have nothing to gain, should never have to play in Boone, at least one said it wouldn't count towards bowl eligibility. And apparently, we allow partial qualifiers. I didn't bother to register and mention that we actually attend classes around here.

Re: UNCCH to Boone?
Im glad we both have openings sooner rather than later. The announcement on the dates for the ECU series really took the wind out of my sails last time. When I first heard this news I figured the game would be in 2075 and a lot of us would be dead before it got played. A Saturday in 2019? Now you're speaking my language. Gillin is unbelievable. Whoever coined "Sir Doug" I like it.

Its good to hear that you have fully embraced the move up. I hope the fans that are still upset will also jump on board. Mountaineer football (entire athletic department) is seeing a lot of benefits from making the move. Exciting days ahead for all Apps!89gradX2 wrote:I know its the 'nature of the scheduling beast,' but I wish we didn't have to wait 5 years for games like this. Re: UNCCH to Boone?
What I'm wondering is, if the rumors of a "home-and-home-and-buy" are true, are we getting "full price" for that second game in Chapel Hill? Or are we going there for less than what we normally would as part of the deal?

App may beat us. True. It has to do FAR more with other factors. Mainly:
1. Partial Qualifiers allowed at App. Not at UNC.
2. The continued gray clouds of the NCAA mess inhibiting our recruiting efforts, especially in the Western part of the State. Kids there now see Clemson and Tennessee as the only legit schools when, previously, we were up there, too.
3. Attrition of graduates, especially along the Lines and at the skill positions (but I think we'll be fine here, honestly), will make 2017 a rebuilding year for UNC.
Losing Chizik won't hurt nearly as much as losing Porter and, to a lesser extent, Scott. I still hold out hope for Thig to come home, but I won't hold my breath. The continuity of the assistant coaches is important, and it COULD be a factor, but there are other things.
Posted on Inside Carolina. Got to love the arrogance of those misguided soles. I can't believe they have the nerve to bring up partial qualifiers when their athletes don't have to even qualify, much less go to class. We actually have athletes that had to sit out this season because they didn't carry their academic load, while their's would have been given another degree. I can't believe we are lowering our standards to play them...

The poster is, of course, correct that their games against us won't count towards their bowl eligibility. That eligibility is based off wins after all.
