I've seen quite a few fans on the flight line saying "Coordinators don't come to Statesboro to learn to be a head coach". Correction...P5 coordinators do, not FCS coordinators, or DII/III head coaches (except maybe those guys at Mount Union and Wisconsin Whitewater in DIII, they can flat out coach winners). And you all who have said "we're 1 bad coaching hire from being in the same spot" are exactly right. It's that easy to lose it and we're lucky that Satterfield is a former player otherwise he might've been gone by now. Hopefully up and coming coaches look at App State as a destination job because we're certainly not in a recruiting hotbed.

The problem isn't that they hired a coordinator - that's always going to be one of the prime pools of HC candidates at our level. The problem is that they hired an inexperienced coach who'd only been a coordinator for two years total at two schools. Just not enough of a track record to be given a HC job without it being a massive risk.

Then on top of that he hired a staff full of guys who had been coaching at lower levels, including infamously the HS coach to be OC. Maybe if he'd been able to hire some more proven coaches at this level, they could have helped him buy time to grow into the HC job. As it was, the whole staff has just seemed in over their heads right from the start.

Look at all the changes over the last 5-7 years in coaching. There has been no consistency which App has shown builds a program, and administration and fans at GSU seem to have no patience to build a program and go through lean times. Expectations are through the roof, but even in tough times think about the program's long history of success.

Southern is down. Ours is a rivalry game with them every year. Beware of a trap game. You can throw out the record books when it comes to rivalrys

I have to admit I am feeling a tiny, tiny bit sorry for the stinksters, but at what point did the battle for the jug become irrelevant?

I do like that we haven't tried to force a silly trophy on this game. It's a rivalry and that's all it needs to be.

Only exception would be a stack of pizza boxes the winning team got to stomp on.
