Re: This is why I'm devastated
Troy has a shot at the G5 Peach Bowl invite if all those AAC schools, Boise, and SDSU have two losses. That is why that one hurts so much.

Re: This is why I'm devastated
Had we won two weeks ago, we would still be behind them. We would have beaten Wake Forest at home. Troy went on the road and beat a ranked (barely) SEC school. Sure LSU doesn't look good but their name carries weight.
Besides, if we both finish the regular season undefeated and share the title, I don't know that a co-champion SB team gets it. I think the rules state a clear champion.

But we'd be in the discussion, which is where we wanted to be after week 5.

Let’s just win on Saturday. Like TxState, NMSU is also much improved.

If we win the conference outright then we are one of only five teams in the discussion. I don't care about being in the discussion in week 5. There is a lot of ball left to be played.

Re: This is why I'm devastated
I care about being in the discussion in every week.
It will be a good season if we finish 10-2 and go to another bowl, one of the best starts for a transition from 1-AA ever.
Still doesn't mean that loss 10 days doesn't limit our postseason options.
That said I look forward to attending which ever postseason game we are fortunate enough to play.

On August 1, did anyone expect our best win to be a come from behind at Idaho?

C’mon App grad, really, who expected to have a major injury bug hit us virtually all season so far? App has been fortunate to avoid this since we’ve moved up to FBS.

Re: This is why I'm devastated
This season is what it is. We haven't beaten a team that was definitely better than us since... We've had opportunities. I don't care what our record ends up being. "Winning" the Sun Belt is a joke. I get injuries. I get youth. I'll take a pass on this season. But yikes, I expected more than two bowl wins against two fine MAC teams. Maybe next year...

As young as we are in critical positions and with the injuries mounting, winning the Sun Belt will be quite an accomplishment!!! Too many of our fans have delusions of grandeur and UNREAL expectations!

Well - Please tell us - if winning the SunBelt is a joke and winning 2 bowl games is no big deal - then WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU WANTING? WHAT DID YOU EXPECT???appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2017 1:57 pmThis season is what it is. We haven't beaten a team that was definitely better than us since... We've had opportunities. As I have for the past quarter century, I expected to beat Wake in Boone. I just thought we'd be better. And I NEVER expected that to be unrealistic.

Re: This is why I'm devastated
This is not the NFL, you are not what your record says you are. This is college football: you are (more or less) better than who you beat and not as good as who you loose to. That makes us (barely) better than Idaho and Costal and not as good as Wake and UMass. I EXPECTED better.

Re: This is why I'm devastated
I agree about WF and mentioned it several times leading up to the game - BUT, I phrased it as the importance was for local bragging rights not national prominence - So over the "last quarter century" APP football has been a failure because we didn't beat WF in 2017?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2017 2:27 pmAs I have for the past quarter century, I expected to beat Wake in Boone. Question : Did you think WF would be as good as they are??? A team that should have beaten FSU and did beat Louisville???

Re: This is why I'm devastated
Is devastated really the appropriate word here? Disappointed, sure. I can see that, but devastated?

Did we lose to UMASS? Their coverage is still buffering for me. #neverwillcomplainaboutespn3again
