I did notice a few smart as..s taking some shots on the Facebook feed. I’ve never really heard Roof talk much but he sounded a bit like a man who has heard the BS. I’m sure he would like to see the defense improve but he probably had to hold back from saying that we are 4-0.
One guy was relentless, posting “fire Roof now!” multiple times and even booing when Roof’s segment began. I’m sure it was distracting for Adam. His computer screen was definitely in view of both coaches and all the players. I was hoping someone would delete his comments and ban him or something. Absolutely insane.
That guy is a jackass.

Like most, I'm concerned about our Defense but the way we are treating Coach Roof is just flat out inappropriate and embarrassing. I don't think our D would have been as good as last year no matter who is coaching. Sure we have a lot of starters returning on D but we lost some players that were more important than many thought. Throw into the mix a more aggressive approach to Offense which most on here have clamored for over the years and deficiencies in the D are going to be more pronounced. R.E.L.A.X. people; we are 4-0. The Defense will get better as younger players get coached up and get more game day experience. Let's just hope the O can mash the accelerator when needed until the D reaches it's potential.
I agree. I've been very critical of the defense this season, but I'm doing it based on Xs and Os, not personal attacks on Roof. That is absurd. I know our defense will improve, but it may be a tougher road than I'd like to see. Let's get this dub down in Cajun land!

I was not really able to watch the show last night but could listen. Maybe it was just me but I got the impression that Adam wanted to ask Coach Roof some more direct questions about the defense- not necessarily negative type but more to put negative issues to rest. There really wasn't a good way to ask those questions but I got a sense that the vibe was present.

There's some really good stuff this week, including Drink explaining going for turnovers over giving up yards starting around 16 minutes in. And later on, Roof says the defense has been inconsistent.

He didn't emphasize going for turnover OVER giving up yards per se. He acknowledged that going for turnovers creates the risk of giving up yards at times, but he also made the statement "First man in secures the stop. Second man in goes for the ball." To you point though, he does put an emphasis on creating turnovers so I don't mean to just play with semantics. I just wanted to clarify in light of someone's comments yesterday.

Roof doesnt have an App shirt on during this mountaineer talk. That's the first time I've seen a coach without one. I know it's a small detail but it's something I noticed
Maybe he has to earn those back? Or just spilled food on them in the box.

The players seem to like him and also seem to be fully aware they need to improve. Sounds like team work to me.

Drinkwitz was on WFNZ this morning. Called out Mac for being a closet UNCC and Carolina fan...........
And he was excellent. Drink is a smart guy.

Just listened to the whole show. Really enjoyed both coaches, Drink is always a treat you can tell he was made for this. The part that really stuck out to me was when Adam asked Jackson and Cobb about how it is being around Coach Roof. Jackson went first and he said something football related then stopped and talked about how easy it is to talk with Roof about life and how much he cares about the players on and off the field. Cobb then echoed those comments. The reason why this really jumps out to me is I know that forget about this part of our coaches job. I know we have pointed out the negatives of Roofs D(and rightly so) but for two of his guys to sit there and talk about the man not the coach means a lot to me. These young men are all going through a transition from children to adults and for them to have someone who they can go and be comfortable with and to talk to is huge. I love winning, but I love our culture even more and I'm glad to see it hasn't changed. These young men are future ambassadors of our beloved Institution and it makes me smile to know that they are being fostered and nurtured both on and off the field. Now if that D can tighten up I will be as happy as can be!

First, thank you for your service to our country.

Good comments and very true. I think that if we all would just remember that App State Football, while great and passionately followed by many is still just a DAMN GAME. The young men we have playing year after year are just college students who love playing, hopefully love this great university and above all else will mostly be moving on in a few short years to real life stuff.

Drink is always money on WFNZ. I know people kind of turn their noses up to local radio, but Mac always gets great content- comedy and quality - out of his guests. Mac's interviews with Drink were all better than the Jim Rome show.

I’ve been critical of him, but I swear the defense could earn a shutout next time out, and some of y’all would complain that the 0 wasn’t round enough.
I would want to see negative points from the other team

It's interesting that Coach Drinkwitz pointed out that App and Clemson are the only two sell outs in Keenan this season.

That also made me step back and realize I'd been overly critical. Maybe we're missing Stout more than realized, so we're using that LB as extra pressure for the time being. There's so many things that could be happening, but at least some of he's taking care of the players. On top ofnallnthis, we're 4-0 and our DC admits we have to keep working. He seems hungry and this whole "episode" impressed me.

I emailed Roof after the Jordan Fehr article came out. The article reminded me that these guys are not just football players and not just coaches. I told him it was great that articles like the one about Fehr let us see the guys in this way, more than football players. I also let Coach Roof know I was pulling for Jordan Fehr the football player and the young man and for Ted Roof the coach and the leader. He responded right away with a thanks. I don’t like how our D is playing but I have to remember that these guys are real people.

As coach Drink mentioned last night on Mountaineer Talk the one big issue with the defense has been red zone defense. We are allowing way to many touch downs and honestly most are pretty easy scores in the red zone. If we can get that cleaned up and force more FGs things will improve greatly. That's one area from the last several years we were very good at
