I don't believe I have seen it mentioned but UAB beat 1, count them ONE team with a winning record. They beat:

Akron- 0-12
Alabama State- 5-6 (by 5)
Rice- 3-9
UTST- 4-8
ODU- 1-11
UTEP- 1-11
N. Texas- 4-8
S. Alabama- 2-10
La Tech- 9-3

They didn't play Marshall or Charlotte and got destroyed in their Championship Game. Not that bad?

Yes they seem to be the worst opponent for any ranked team, hence the -17 (it it may go up).

Well, it will look good if we easily handle a 9 win team on the surface.

My hope is with Clark at the helm we get up early and don't let up at all for the 2nd half.

And as an added caveat, La Tech's starting QB and WR1 were both suspended when UAB played them. They backed into the CUSA title game, they need someone to lose and them win and it just worked out perfectly. 1-0

Still, we should not get overconfident. A win is never for certain. I hope as many fans will attend as possible considering our historic year with so many team and conference records broken. I would hate to see UAB fans outnumber us after this kind of year. And there are many things to do besides the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, including for families: The Cabildo Building/History Museum, City Park (beautiful and free plus can take Canal Streetcar to it for fun), Museum of Art, Garden District homes, Lafayette Cemetery (ghost tour option too), WWII Museum, etc. If you want to get out of the city, plantation tours and swamp tours are great. Lots more than just drinking and walking Bourbon Street, but nothing wrong with that either. Last year it was unseasonably cool during game weekend; odds are it will be warmer this year.

Most of the time it takes 2 teams scoring to hit the over 😉

Last I saw it sat in the low 40s. We could do that by ourselves.

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Appalachian State vs. UAB
Mercedes-Benz Superdome
New Orleans
9 p.m., ESPN/ESPN App

Appalachian State (12-1)

Player to watch: Zac Thomas and Darrynton Evans form one of the country's top QB-RB duos, combining to account for 55 touchdowns this season. Thomas has blossomed into the Sun Belt's most dangerous weapon, compiling just shy of 3,000 yards of offense to go with 33 touchdowns, while Evans averaged better than 5.6 yards per carry en route to 1,323 yards on the ground.

Storyline to watch: App State felt it deserved a shot at a New Year's Six bowl after hanging around the top 25 most of the year and winning the Sun Belt on the back of an explosive offense. Now that the Mountaineers didn't get the big prize for Group of 5 teams, will this group still have the juice it needs to finish the season strong?

UAB (9-4)

Key player: Everyone wants balance in their running game, but the Blazers actually have it with a trio of backs in Spencer Brown, Lucious Stanley and Jermaine Brown Jr. All three have more than 400 rushing yards this season, and have combined for 14 rushing touchdowns.

Storyline to watch: Starting quarterback Tyler Johnston III's knee injury could have derailed this team, but Dylan Hopkins held down the fort and helped the Blazers end the regular season on a three-game winning streak. But now that Johnston is available again, how much will he play?

Also, there are antique shops on Royal street between St Louis and Bienville. I am talking real antiques. Like Louis XIV furniture, not just in the style but actually owned by him. Tea service from Russian Czars, etc. Free to walk by, in and look. Harrah's Casino, if you have a players club card and play a certain amount of time, parking in their garage is or can be free. Used to be 30 minutes every 24 hours. Check the total rewards desk at the Casino to verify current rules. If you play slots there, I would play on the Canal Street side to the right of the total rewards desk. Those machines seem to be better paying. Also if you eat in there, skip the buffet and eat at the Fudruckers, used to have a good burger at a fair price.

I mentioned on another thread, Jackson Square had a lot of street performers to enjoy and the French Market had some great free Christmas activities for the kids last year. Not sure if they will do the same since it’s a different weekend.

If someone has not been down there before be sure to go get some beingets at Cafe Du Monde, the Krispy Kreme of NOLA.

We were all wearing black for the game and we got that white sugar dust all over us. We were the black & gold & white that day. :D

I have to say I am really disappointed with the matchup. I know someone has to get the worse matchup of the bowl season but I was hoping it would not be us. There are a total of 7 ranked teams playing non-ranked teams. Those non-ranked teams are --

Boston College
Texas
Kansas State
Iowa State
Texas A&M
Washington
UAB

I would take any of these over UAB. This doesn't even mention the large list of other non-ranked teams playing non-ranked teams that I would take over UAB.

It looked like I had been snorting lines of coke after leaving a beinget place but we didn’t do cafe du monde. Didn’t help that I had a black app shirt on.
