I would think so , he wouldn’t crack the top two , or three on the depth chart based on what I’ve seen.

Exactly. It's Zac's job to lose, not for someone else to take.abigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 12:35 pmI completely understand that the most critical position on a football team is the quarterback but when the team is successful and the current (and incumbent) QB is a wildly successful one WHY is there any discussion about either replacing him or even increased competition for the position? Can’t it simply be that the next guy waits his turn? Aren’t our results with ZT good enough? Did we lose the games he started because of his play? This is like deja vu all over again- flash back to TL days.

As soon as I clicked on this thread again, and before I skipped to the end I all of a sudden thought the same thing. I apologize for a few of my Zac comments. Unless something crazy happens and he is given a bonus year he will be gone. All that being said not a bad title. It will be very interesting to see who wins the job. I hope we have some halftime blowouts so we can see some guys get meaningful snaps at QB.

Exactly. Zac is the starter and will remain so. But I want our young guys to work their tails off and do everything they can to try and get the spot. I hope they see the maximum amount of time they can as backups!bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 3:00 pmAs soon as I clicked on this thread again, and before I skipped to the end I all of a sudden thought the same thing. The main point is having a competent backup should Zac get injured so we don't have to struggle.

You mean Jacob Huesman? He is 1-0 as a starter.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 9:10 amThe main point is having a competent backup should Zac get injured so we don't have to struggle.

Re: QB after 2020
Good for him. I hope we challenge and develop our backups to up their game and get closer to being on the level of Zac. If you feel comfortable, playing a current backup and staying multi-dimensional on offense, good for you. I don't, good for me.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 9:55 amYou mean Jacob Huesman? Guys, unless I've missed something, we have no idea who will be working with App's QB's--nor do we have any clue how one prospect or another will bond with the yet-to-be-named QB coach and step his game up to 2021 starting capability.
Those doing the guessing are doing so with just about zero knowledge of the future.

Re: QB after 2020
I agree Zac is the man next year and I’ve never been a fan of the 2 QB system but if DBG turns out to be all that, could we see him getting a meaningful series two during a few games here and there instead of just garbage time? Is there a school of thought one way or the other? I’m not sure how I feel about it when teams do that, but we never seem to give our QB 2 any real chance to get experience unless we have to because of injury. When the backups do make it in, they rarely, if ever get a chance to run the real offense.

Re: QB after 2020
Perhaps he should start every game, but surprise start DBG against Georgia Southern next year to eff with them. And I joke, but think what that would do to them after game planning for Thomas and then getting someone you have absolutely no film on.
