More people than I thought would. I just posted on something I saw on twitter and even asked in my OP if it was a classless move or a funny knee slapper. Just an open topic and then after some replies I threw out my 2 cents and my goodness the amount of butthurt from that is kinda crazy. If people didn't care or thought it was dumb or just wanted "next subject" then why keep posting?
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

A ref did get after him as he was walking away...Classless? That is a over reaction. Funny? Yeah it is. Will SC address it? You bet. Stick a fork in the comments. It’s done.

Re: No helping hand to a pirate
Clearly qualifies as an Unsportsmanlike Conduct foul by the letter of the rule. The official had the good sense to not flag it, but if he had we would really have had no gripe. Stupid classless act that should be cleaned up. I trust that it will.

I think it’s interesting how people can look at the exact same thing and see two completely different things?!?!! I guess that’s where we are right now.

Yep, plenty of complaining when the mullets sat in the stands behind our bench in the last bowl game and taunted our team. People were upset over just words then. Actions must not matter. I'm not a moral gatekeeper, just rather not see that from our team.appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 5:13 pmI love how people rationalize things when its people on "their side" committing the actions in question. The number of times other players have done something dirty, said something a bit sideways, or taunted App in any way and this board has gone nuts is fascinating. Sports fandom hypocrisy at its best.

Laughed when I saw it, wasn't proud of it, wasn't proud of the action. I'd rather us be known for good sportsmanship then that kind of stuff.

Re: No helping hand to a pirate
I can think of a few other things that can happen on the field that I’d be more upset about:
Intentional targeting to hurt a player, stomping on an opponent, grabbing a face mask and slinging a guy out of bounds, gloating over an obviously injured opponent, getting a ridiculous unsportsmanlike penalty that hurts the team, etc.
I really hate when an App guy feels the need to create a topic that points out a relatively benign play which leads to needless arguments amongst other App guys. Zero upside. Then again we have other topics that go completely off the rails so what else is new?

Re: No helping hand to a pirate
Thanks for the love. You are correct though, when a hand is extended with love/respect but pulled back out of hate there is zero upside and it could get us a penalty costing the team for a selfish action. I don't hate you for having a different opinion than me or for not liking this topic. I don't hate Harrington for a dumb move in the heat of competition. It's ok if you hate me or this thread because I don't hate you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with starting a topic about something one of our players does on the field. That is pretty much the purpose of a sports forum, to talk about the good, the bad, and everything in between. You are free to hate that if you want as you are also free to keep posting in the topic you hate. Gotta love have freedoms like that. Love ya fellow App, go grab a beer.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:14 amI can think of a few other things that can happen on the field that I’d be more upset about:

Great teams may taunt, but classy, sportsmanlike teams don't. One action by one player when it hits the media can stereotype a whole program.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 8:28 amGreat. Teams. Taunt.

So you want the unsportsmanlike reputation of Georgia Southern, huh, yosef69? Well you can have it.

Re: No helping hand to a pirate
Didn't put us in a positive light and a good no-call .My larger concern was the frequency of celebration after what were in my eye routine plays.I'm all for having a good time but eventually it's going to cost us 15 yards.I hope that's all it costs us.

Re: No helping hand to a pirate
No, because Georgia Southern sucks. They aren’t a great team. All the greatest teams and players taunt because they are better than everybody else and they know it. If you didn’t read the article, you should. MJ taunted. Larry Bird was a legendary taunter. Even Tebow, who is held as the gold standard for “playing the right way” taunted an Oklahoma player with the Gator chomp.NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 1:16 pmyosef69 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 12:27 pmRather be great than classy!NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 12:11 pmGreat teams may taunt, but classy, sportsmanlike teams don't. I’ll never forget the story of MJ reducing Muggsy to near tears.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 7:19 amNo, because Georgia Southern sucks. They aren’t a great team.
