Virtually an entire page of a thread that said almost nothing about our current team's depth chart. Who cares about dudes from other teams that are in the NFL? Most of us would love discussing OUR team and our depth.
I understand. I really did not want to go into all that but when I see people claim that we just can't get any bigger OL I have to debunk it because we just have to find those with the frame and athleticism and bulk them up.
As for our depth chart, a lot of questions about certain positions but we will find out in less than a week. Something to debate on here. Which true freshmen appear to be needed the most and will play right away? It looks like Ethan Johnson will be one of them. Who else end up not redshirting? Anyone not on the two-deep that could sneak up there?

I vote that after 2 messages back and forth non related to topic, users get muted for 30 days by admin, or some other action so those of us thinking we’re reading about the topic don’t get our time wasted regarding two users’ disagreements….

Back to regularly scheduled programming. So it looks like we will possibly burn a few red shirts this year. Hoping we can keep Burger’s intact.

The question after seeing this depth chart is if Brice goes down would McBride be the guy or would Burger lose the redshirt? Hopefully we don't have to find out.

Just given his game experience I would say McBride.

At this point I would think the same thing. Wonder if perhaps come November that would still be the case? I hope we have some blowout wins this year so we can see both of them get some time.

I dont think we would burn the red shirt unless both qbs get banged up. If Chase would suffer a season ending injury by mid season I say you go with whomever gives you the best chance to win unless we are in no real position to win SBC then go with Mcbride. Game 7 against Georgia State for me would be the one game where a tough decision would have to be made if we already have a sun belt loss by then but I doubt that since we should be heavily favored in belt games to that point.

Do we still have the 4 games a redshirt can play? Guess that may be telling on any game that gets out of hand who we put in.

If we do that and do anything but handoff, it would be a first.

I know when you put a backup in our coaches don't want to risk turnovers but it would be good to see both him and McBride throw in a real game situation for 2 reasons. 1. Coaches know more than we do but they can still be surprised with a performance. See ZT playing much better than expected against Penn State. 2. The 2nd and 3rd string practice just as hard and I love to see them get a chance to really get a little mix of play calls to give them a chance at scoring.

Our intelligent and very experienced coaches will play back-ups when and if they feel it is appropriate

Of course they will. The coaches are probably hesitant because you don't want to lose a player to injury in a scenario that is unnecessary. We all remember the Corey Lynch injury. he Corey Lynch injury was one I remember thinking was a stupid risk. I just wonder if perhaps our staff might give McBride and Burger a shot to make some safe throws in our 2 FCS games. Those should be blowouts that we can get both of them at quarter of work and see a few throws.
I know this is a year away but we go to UNC next year and thankfully we play G-W first so the new starter can shake the rust off.

Since McBride is a dual threat QB, it will be interesting to see if we see a wrinkle in the game plan by giving him a change of pace series. There are pluses and minuses to this, but it could catch a defense off guard.

I do remember the Corey injury and it was very questionable - but as it turned out he didn't lose the year and therefore he was able to play for 3 National Championships -

Like to see him used as a WR from time to time, then run a WR pass with him. It has worked several times in the past using Zac as a receiver after throwing to the WR.

Nothing wrong with that, but I was thinking speed option and getting Noel in the corner or motioning Noel from the slot and making the defense respect
a backfield of McBride, Noel and Peoples with the option to run or throw.
Just a change or pace series mid 2nd Quartee if the offense needs a spark

The play with Zac Thomas was a good one and I would hope that we can run it with McBride. I suspect that we may have to pull out some tricks in this game and while this is our first game it is completely worth it to do so for this win.

I’ve seen what McBride can do, I would rather Burger and Tapscott in blowouts.

Had to hold my breath once on that same play call. Had the pass been on the money and Zak caught it, he would gotten his top taken off.
