I don't think that is necessarily the case, Moore did take out a senior DP when he was struggling, and ironically replaced him with JLJ.
I was going to say the same thing, but it never was said it was due to his performance. He officially had a injury. I think most thought it was a phantom injury, but he never came back as QB.

The best part, IMHO, is that his spirit wasn't killed and he came back as maybe an even better defensive player.

To me that's coaching!

Hear! Hear! But that is blasphemy on this board. ;)

Seattleapp wrote:All summer long and basically since we declared we are moving to FBS, I have monitored this board. So many were happy to see Moore go. So many just knew we were going to roll through this season. Everyone has been so dismissive of FCS in general, with threads dedicated to "what FCS team will we root for after we are Division I?" There was little discussion in the build up to this season about our 2013 schedule, except to talk about the game we are going to give Georgia in November. Even the discussion about the Montana game was tepid at best, with the decision instead to write pointless summations about our future Sunbelt opponents.

It all looked so arrogant on our part. We acted like we are too good for FCS and the opponents we are playing THIS year. I hope people realize just how hard it is to win consistently at any level. This isn't a rah-rah Jerry Moore thread, but it is one that maybe we should have a reality check. We aren't North Dakota State. We really aren't. We haven't dominated FCS in several years. I think we have done a disservice to our team and our league by prematurely looking down our nose at this season. I have held off on how moronic it has been to devote daily threads to the Sun Belt teams we won't even be seeing for another year in the months leading up to the 2013 team. STUPID AND ARROGANT AND POINTLESS.

So here we are, two games into the 2013 team and we have been smacked around on the road by Montana and embarrassed at home by NC A&T. Two FCS opponents who have taken us to the woodshed. I have no way of knowing how this season will turn out, but I think it's high time we start being realistic about our program. We have some major holes to fill and we are not the 2007 team anymore. I want us all to support our team, but a little humility by our fans goes a long way. Let these two games be a wakeup call to mountaineer nation.
And now you know how it feels to be a Clemson fan... at least this is how I imagine it.

It has nothing to do with the wins or losses. It is this dismissive attitude a lot of our "bandwagon" (to coin a phrase) fans have had since we declared our move up to FBS. This is a lame duck season, but we are developing into arrogant fans and I sure hate to see it. You can bet Montana's fans are not sitting around pondering why they are too good to play the NC A&T's of the world. It is funny what people took from my original post.

Worrying about what fans do or do not do is completely pointless. Fans will be fans. The only thing that matters is that, from what I have heard, the A&T fans who came to Boone were treated well. The rest of this is just pot stirring.

Some fans have a chip on their shoulder and some who don't. Constantly moaning and groaning gets old. We are our own worst enemy at times.

"Too good to play A&T", quite the stretch.

I could turn that around and claim some of our fans don't think we're good enough to play the ECU's of the college football world.

Neither is true.

Reaction in the Mountaineer Nation is predictable, and about the same as we see at most other schools. When things are going well, we are the Masters of the Universe and no one can touch us, and heads get so big they almost explode. When a couple of losses hit, everyone attached to the program is to blame, the world is ending, some heads have to roll (NOW), and (most clearly) a move to FBS is foolhardy.

Reality is somewhere in between. Always has been; always will be.

We can't judge players, coaches, game strategies, and the long-term result of a move to FBS at this point.

For anyone that things the App Nation response/meltdown is unique, go look at Univ of Georgia message boards after their first week loss to Clemson, or Florida, Texas or Notre Dame message boards after this past weekend's results. It's not logical. It's not rational. It's not a very good indication of reality, but it's the nature of rabid football fans everywhere.

And Elder was coming off of surgery just like Jackson is this season.

And at least we have rabid fans...I remember the days we didn't!

Even then however, one of the best places to be was in the student section during a game, win, lose or draw. (I had forgotten what it felt like until I ran down there during the last few drives and danced a little AC/DC hoping for that score, why is college wasted on the youth? lol)

Nice try Cline. I have been called a "RAH RAH" fan on here (and the old MMB) several times. Surely, SeattleApp's axe has been grinded enough by now. He needs to give it a rest and move on.

How self-serving and arrogant do you have to be to start a thread accusing people of little humility.

Rep point. My only disagreement is that we as fans don't have to act like the Georgia's etc.

I stand by my point of comparing mine and your moaning and groaning. We both do and both rah rah.
