For those going to the Eric Church concert Saturday night in Greensboro, the local newspaper has published a feature in the GoTriad section.

Here are a couple of snipets:
You graduated from Appalachian State University. What were your years in Boone like?
It was great. I played music the whole time. It got to where, by my junior year, we were playing five, six nights a week. Grades sucked, but our crowds were pretty good.
We were out all night and having to go to class, and basically I was just trying to graduate. I was a marketing major, and as soon as I graduated, I moved to Nashville. It was like the next week, I was gone. The great thing about being at App was that I got exposed to bluegrass music, jam-band music, stuff that I wasn’t that steeped in when I went to college.
Do you still feel like a North Carolinian? Do you keep a place here?
I’ve written every album in Banner Elk. There’s a cabin up there I go to and hole up. It will always be home, especially the mountains.
There’s something about it that’s spiritual in me, so that’s where I will continue to go to write albums. No TV, no nothing. I just go walk the hills and just write.
