Due to patient and student confidentially laws, OWO is sharing only what he can legally say. I'm not sure it is fair to jump on him, if he is trying to share delicate info with us legally.

Perhaps more diplomatic statements from the top would have kept the hornets from swarming.

Just received a copy of an article from the Fayetteville newspaper about Bronson. He had been seriously injured and was coming back for his 6th year due to medical redshirt. If this is true, he's done with college football. Too bad....from the article he seemed like a good young man.

From this morning's WSJ...

Bronson out

Defensive end Thomas Bronson, a fifth-year senior, will be out for the season due to a non-football injury. Citing confidentiality laws, App State declined to comment on the injury.

This should end, once and for all, the speculation on the MMB. No more info will be forthcoming from university officials or from the Watauga medical community.

ASU DE John Law had it right in his Twitter post on Saturday night. Prayers for Tom Bronson's complete recovery are in order. This is much bigger than ASU Football--a mere game. It's now about a young man's health and well-being.

Godspeed, Tom Bronson.

I read somewhere last month that Bronson came from a storied Tennessee football family. Your post triggered my recollection. Here's the FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER feature from just a week ago. What a sad outcome for this young man.

College football preview: Applachian State DE Thomas Bronson inspired after return from terrible knee injury

Thomas Bronson, a Mountaineers defensive end, tore three of the major ligaments in his knee during the third game of last season against Georgia Southern. He's recovered and will use a fifth year of eligibility to help Appalachian State try to earn a bowl bid.

Preseason practices can be grueling and a real grind for college football players, but not for Appalachian State's Thomas Bronson.

In fact, Bronson has reveled in every drill, each tackle and every sprint as the Mountaineers prepare for what could be a historic season in Boone.

"I'm soaking it all up and playing football like every day could be my last one,'' said Bronson, who for a brief time last September believed his playing career was finished.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive end tore three of the major ligaments in his knee during the third game of the season against Georgia Southern. The injury was so serious that Bronson was wondering if he'd played his last game for the Mountaineers.

As a mainstay on Appalachian State's defensive front, Bronson had appeared in 28 games and made nine starts prior to the injury. He was hurt on Georgia Southern's second offensive series.

"I was chasing the quarterback on an inside stunt,'' Bronson said. "As I was chasing, our safety was coming in to help and fell into my knee. My knee buckled sideways. I felt this weird burning sensation. ... It was like nothing I'd ever felt before.''

Bronson completely tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments and partially tore the posterior cruciate ligament.

Facing the prospect of reconstructive surgery and an arduous rehabilitation process, Bronson's football future was uncertain.

"I was really down on myself,'' Bronson said. "I didn't know what I was going to do. Then, after a couple of days I realized I had a fifth year of eligibility and another opportunity to come out and prove myself. I remember reading about (Minnesota Vikings running back) Adrian Peterson and how he came back from his knee injury. That motivated me to do all I could to get back. I didn't want to have any regrets.''

Because he was redshirted as a true freshman in 2011, Bronson had an extra year of college eligibility remaining. College players have five years to play four seasons under NCAA rules.

Family tradition

The game has been an important part of Bronson's life. His father and both grandfathers were college football players at Tennessee. Grandfather Bill Johnson was a first-team All-American guard for the Volunteers in 1957.

All three were major influences on Bronson and his three brothers, two of whom play for Tennessee Tech. Robert Hill Bronson is a sophomore linebacker for the Golden Eagles and John Bronson is a freshman safety.

"It's been my goal since I was a little kid to play college football,'' Bronson said. "My dad actually built a little weight room in our garage. We had sleds to push around in our yard. It was motivation to have three such great role models. They helped make me the guy I am today.''

Bronson will rejoin an Appalachian State defense that returns 10 starters from a unit that ranked first among Sun Belt Conference teams. He's working at the boundary end position behind junior Nate Norwood.

Returning for the 2015 season enables Bronson to experience what could be the first postseason bowl appearance by Appalachian State as a full-fledged member of the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Mountaineers completed a three-year transition period from the Football Championship Subdivision last year, which meant they were ineligible for the Sun Belt championship or a bowl bid.

"We've had couple of years where we didn't have anything to play for except for the sheer pride of winning ballgames,'' Bronson said. "So this year it's exciting to be part of this veteran team that can compete for the Sun Belt championship and a bowl.

"I'm just eternally grateful for this fifth year to play football.''

Saw it. bars were packed and were letting in 1 for 1. He was mad and dropped a few expletives. bouncer said something along the lines of "say that to my face." he said it again and the bouncer shoved him off the step and he hit the ground. Wouldn't jump to conclusions with necessarily painting him as the "bad guy" (i.e. drunk and stupid) as it was the bouncer to make things physical first. Also should be noted that this was witnessed through a pair of drunk goggles haha.

I'd say the bouncer has some trouble on his hands and the bar that employed him if that is true.

In my experience, bouncers are often the biggest trouble makers at the bar. I hope Bronson recovers with no lasting problems and it really sucks that he's going to miss his last opportunity to play football.
