ODU will hang for a half but NC State will dominate in the second half. The Monarch aren't what they were when Heinicke was QB.

ODU's weaknesses (mediocre defense, run-heavy) plays to App's strengths so a loss would be devastating.

Has anything been posted about an Alumni Association Tailgate Party for the ODU game?

Alumni Association Tailgate Party
• Details TBA

I would think they would be avaiable very soon.

It really would be a disaster. It would be a repeat of 2014 almost exactly, only without any guarantee that we'd run off 6 FBS wins at the end of the season.

Is the ODU/NCSU game on TV? I looked for it on Watch ESPN and couldn't find it (mind you, I didn't look hard). I'd like to be able to see ODU in action to get a better idea of what the Apps are up against.

Bobby Wilder seems to think ODU's location has something to do with why ACC teams are willing to play in a 20,000 seat stadium.

'Teams want to come play here because they want to recruit in this area,'' he said. ''And, from the start, we have made it pretty clear that we want to play ACC teams. ... Playing teams from the ACC is critical for building our program to the level of success we want to have, so we are going to continue to pursue them.''

Watching the NC State vs ODU game now
NC state is obviously the more talented team, but ODU has shown flashes on offense with their Runningback, Lawry who has a 70 yard touchdown reception. I think, like our team, we won't know where they stand as a team until next weekend. I like our chances though.

ODU came into the game with the Nation's leading rusher, and left the game with -3 total rushing yards.

Final score NC State 38 ODU 14

ODU's drives yardage totals

2
12 (and that's with +15 on a facemask)
70 (one pass play for a TD)
-1
7 (one play before halftime)
6
75 (TD drive aided with a DPI on 3rd down)
0
2
-5

Besides the 70-yard TD and their drive when down three scores, it was ugly for the ODU offense. 8 first downs the entire game (2 by penalty), half of which came on their second touchdown drive.

NCSU made them look bad, but I think next week could be a tight one.

ODU is big on the line and will provide holes for Lawry and time for their talented yet I experienced QB. If their WRs don't drop so many balls they will be dangerous as they run good routes and create decent separation.

I do think we should be able to run against their defense.

ODU looked tired very early on in the game on defense. I think we will match up very well against them. I do believe we have to pressure their QB early... He lost confidence as the game went on.

Present ODU QB Bentley was QB for ASU WR Meador while team mates at Duncan Byrnes in SC....great arm but needs experience. ..

This is a huge game. We're better than ODU imo, but we were better than teams like Southern Miss and Liberty last year and just had some mental lapses and we lost. This is the game that we're really gonna find something out about this team. ODU has talented players and a solid fanbase. Again, we're better but that doesn't mean we're a shoe-in to win. We're gonna have to play well to win, but I trust we will. I want this win really bad.

First off we need to establish the run. Of couse this seems obvious but the run game is so integral to our success. We have one of the deepest running back pools in all of college football, led by Marcus and Terrence. We need to win the battle up front and run the ball and kill clock which will set up Taylor to make some plays down the field. We need to play mistake free ball. I trust our D's ability to play well. Our defense is looking REALLY solid so far this year. Hopefully they'll play well again Saturday and create some turnovers.

If we win the battle upfront and Taylor plays mistake free we should win and win easily. But we're gonna learn something about this team Saturday.

our think our defensive line is as good, or better than States, so I hope we control the line of scrimmage, and force the freshman qb to try and beat us. I wish we would come out and aggressively attack their defense, try and get Meadows involved early in the game. I think they will be ready for this game, they have alot to prove after the Clemson game

As much as ODU got dominated by NCSU, why does anyone think they will come out this week and play significantly better? Eastern Michigan is a bottom tier FBS MAC team who they barely beat. Norfolk State is mid-MEAC at best which they didn't exactly blow out. Is NCSU THAT much better than we are? I mean, ODU was totally shut down except for one screen play where NCSU overcommitted and one sustained series in the 3rd qtr. Every other series ODU was shut down, nothing.

This game proved that a strong run stop defense with lots of pressure on QB can stifle ODU. On their defensive side, they have yet to show they can stop anyone.
