Do huh? Did you see how Baylor ran against the Heels? And, they only ran because their 5th string QB was hurtin' (& their top 4 QBs were out). To me, their run game looked suspiciously similar (like to App's).

Based on what I saw last night, App vs. UNC might result in a similar score to the bowl game; I'd say 59 - 32 App.

There's no way we'd score 59 on UNC. Regardless of how poorly they did defending the run, our offensive line was held together by scotch tape during our bowl game. UNC would've beat us by two touchdowns. We had a great season and we're building a tremendous program, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
Son, I am ahead of myself all the time. That way I always win !!  :P

Reality is UNC, Duke, NCSU beat us; we have very competitive games with Wake and ECU. UNCC we wax.

Wrong, the reality is you don't know, I don't know, and we will never know who would win. That said, I would like Apps chances in any of these games at KBS. :D

You can take your "reality" and shove it. I'll live in my App reality and that reality is that our record is the best in the state.

I was at the State game yesterday. They're not very good. We would have a solid chance of beating them

I seriously doubt NCSU would be favored by much more than a TD on us, if that. You all need to stop drinking the ACC koolaid. It's a basketball conference.

Was just coming to post this. Whatever you think our chances would be against the ACC teams, it's solid marketing/trolling.

I've said my piece on UNC, but I'd be more bullish than you on our chances vs. the rest. For reference, Sagarin would set the lines as:

UNC -13
State -3
Duke -1.5
ECU +6
Wake +9
UNCC +32

Those all look about right to me.

(Good meeting you in Montgomery, btw!)

Good grief some of you, it was just a post, its not what I wish would happen, but what I personally think would happen. We all know anything COULD happen on any given day, but I personally think we are not quite there yet depth wise against a few of these squads. I too have seen all of these teams play a lot of football this year and that's just what I think would happen. So going forward, it is my reality, my opinion, nothing personal, just a prediction on a fan blog.

Thanks for this. One of our "fans" commented on that tweet saying "I love App and all but uh strength of schedule". That really irks me considering that UNC's signature win was either Duke or a down VT squad and they played two FCS teams. No respectable FBS program plays two FCS in one season. That's embarrassing. The ACC has the worst football attendance of all P5s for a reason.

Interesting that you're also a Syracuse fan and an ACC homer. What a coincidence.

Most times people post things on a blog and feel like they can argue their point based on facts. You have posted something you know nothing about. I can assure you, as someone who was born in Syracuse, moved, and grew up rooting for the big east in the south, you will find no one who has more discontent for the ACC, especially after the initial ACC poaching. Add to that having to listen to the honks here in the Triangle, all day everyday, talk about these teams, trust me, the VERY last thing I am is a homer. That is laughable. The only reason I am pulling for Clem in this game is because of APP. And before anyone starts the allegiance discussion, please don't. I still root for the Orange and always will, you can't break 20 years of rooting for a team before you go to college and just dismiss all those games and family memories. If that unfortunate day ever comes when ASU and SU play each other, I will be decked out in black and gold pulling for my alma mater.

If you go to my OP, I was not saying any of these teams would kill App, just one man's thoughts on how I think the games would flush out. before the Saragin ratings post was published, my thoughts were right along with that that, so clearly I am not that off.

ACC homer, so funny.

NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?

CharleyHustle wrote:Let me add a little sanity to this discussion. I love the Mountaineers and see all the home games and most of the others. But lets be honest here. Baylor beat the heels because they are bigger on both lines and have superior speed. If we faced the Heels we would face the same obstacles. Their offense would have its way with ASU, and we would have a little success against their average defense because of their superior size and speed. Remember the difficulty we had against Ohio's larger defensive line. The Sun Belt is not now and never will be the ACC. Why can't we as fans be realistic and enjoy what was probably, all things considered, the best year in Mountaineer football history. On our level, we are simply fantastic, and chances are we will get even better! Go Apps!!!!

PS. I don't understand all the Tar Heel hate on this board. Check out the Carolina board and feel all the love they give the Mountaineers.
Woooowww. I didn't think it was possible to have one poster, in a single post no less, embody everything that is wrong with and holding back our fan base, but you sir have done it.

You not only suggest that we're insane and should know our place ("on our level") but you then top it all off by suggesting we should join the heels bandwagon!

I'd rather jump off Howard's Knob.

Personally, I won't respect them until they sack up and schedule us. In the past decade they've played just about every FCS/FBS in the carolinas except for us and that's no coincidence.

Their fans are throwing a complete tantrum on our Twitter just because someone else in the state is having success and even though we'll never get the spotlight they do, they can't stand it. I love it!

Given that this was basically a troll of all the other in-state teams, maybe we were actually giving Wake a pass for willingly scheduling us? Though that doesn't explain the inclusion of UNCC. Maybe it's their punishment for waiting until 2018.
