I am luckily in a Yosef seating section with no changes and my youngest is an incoming freshman in 2016 so my costs are reduced significantly. Still having two in college I have no plans to up my contribution. I used the monthly plan last year for the first time and it did help.

Exactly. For many there's never been a need to give as you can ride the train without paying the fare. The changes taking place are totally in line with what other programs are doing. Our season tickets are quite reasonable when compared to ECU and ODU. Our students have the best deal going anywhere. I realize that not everyone buying a full season ticket package can attend all games, but there are ways to market tickets not being used. This board, Stub Hub, Primo Seats, word of mouth just a few examples. Clemson's web site integrates Stub Hub right into their ticket marketplace. Something similar would work well for our fans looking to buy or sell extra tickets.

Gillin is also trying to get more season ticket sales so he will have more stable income. If we get to the point where most of the stadium is full of season it will be much easier to set a budget for the athletic department, and it will make scheduling easier if we can tell people we guarantee X number of people will be in the stands. Looking long term it will help us if any conference realignment moves take place. Having a strong fan base that is fully invested in the program catches the eye of other schools and conferences.

It would be nice to know prices for each game. Not everyone has the extra money laying around. We always bought mini season and then tried to go to an away game. This makes it very difficult.

All games except Miami are $40. Miami is $60.

Remember that season tickets may be paid all at once, in three installments, or in five installments. There are plenty of people who can't pay $200 per season ticket in one throw ... including me.

We can't have all the things we want and not pay for them. I am very, very surprised at the small price increase about $3 a ticket I think. This pricing this year is identical to ECU. Don't get me wrong, I HATE a price increase on anything, but every single person on this board was aware things were going to change. Look what the man has to work with. $100,000 in TV money?

I was looking at the ticket prices and something didn't seem right. Season tickets are $200, individually they would be $260. They say it is a 30% savings. But it is only a 23% savings. 200/260 is 77%. 100%-77% =23%. Am I crazy? A 30% savings would make Season tickets $182.

I see what you did there. I think they are using 30% savings in that you would pay 30% more buying individual tix vs season.

$200 X 30% = $60.

Good catch - sounds like they're confusing calculating cost savings with cost increase. That is, from $200 to $260 would be a 30 percent increase. I'm sure that's how they came up with that figure.

Cut them a little slack - probably not a lot of math majors in the SID's office.

There may be no math majors in the SID's office, but perhaps a few took Theory & Practice of Persuasion.

Haha, sounds like some fuzzy math. Or like the consumer perception that $9.99 is considerably cheaper than $10.00. GENIUS!

Actually it is a 30% savings. The math is ($260 - $200)/200 = 30%. Your saving 30% off the cost of individual tickets.

We have bought four mini-season tickets and four tickets for one away game the last several years. Was fun bringing friends/family that normally would not have come. Now I will buy two full season tickets and still buy four tickets for one away game. I really want to be there for the Miami game, so this is the cost.

I can sorta understand the need for the changes, but it's the cost of moving up. Just hope we can continue to get attractive out of conference games going forward until the next realignment.

That's your math and it may be proper, but 30% of 260 = 78. 260 - 78 =182. Also, 260 x .7 = 182.

This has been on my file cabinet at work for the past 12 years. Check out the team that came to Boone on October 2nd? We will see them again in Boone this fall.

I get that no one likes a price increase on anything in general. I don't get the complaints with regards tickets for our games. First the pricing, and more important the accessibility, is INCREDIBLE compared to big time schools which we would love to emulate (minus a small percentage of posters it appears). State, UNC, Georgia, USC those fans would love to pay 200 for a season ticket, make only a 500.00 donation and get to sit lower level 50 yard line.

I also get that some people "don't just have the $ lying around." But the gripes about the termination of the mini ticket package being discontinued? You were paying 103 for those games (97 + 6 tax). This year its $97 extra over the course of the year. That's less than $20 extra per payment (5 payments). Sell the extra tickets. People on here will buy them.

Also the gripes about having to pay a YC membership to keep your seats. This is not just an entertainment commodity for most on this board its a donation to your alma mater. Complaining about making what in most instances is going to be a nominal donation to the school for the seat kind of gals me. UNCC with no tradition made people buy PSLs.

The players feel like they play at a big time program, the coaches want to coach a big time program, Gillin believes we can be a big time program, the fans now need to understand we are trying to be a big time program.

Fair points. Two things:

1) ACC and SEC schools charge more because they're playing ACC/SEC schedules. We're charging about the same for the Miami game as in-state ACC schools do. And I believe when they play FCS or lower G5 schools, the prices are lower than for P5 games. All of this is fine by me, BTW. Just making the comparison more apples-to-apples.

2) I have seen a lot of people making the claim that you can just buy a season ticket and sell the games you aren't going to. I'm wondering where the secondary market for those games is going to be. With App pushing people toward season tickets, who are the fans who are only looking to go to Texas State or Idaho? I think there are going to be a whole lot more sellers than buyers for those Sun Belt games.

If I can't make it to a game, I give the ticket to someone with a student at APP so they can visit and enjoy the atmosphere (see why their child will not come home for the weekend).
