But i'm telling you if we dont build it close to the North end field where the band sits we are wasting money.

Wouldn't the scoreboard likely have to be moved if that happens.appbud wrote:I like moving the hill in closer and enclosing the other endzone with seats as long as it doedn't block the view of Howards Knob

The scoreboard will be due for an update by then, anyway.

Re: Premium seating opportunities...
DG has done some great things with scheduling so far. I hear he's got a plan to put his stamp on App...possibly a reworked stadium entrance (probably including the removal of Owens). Just what I've heard. I for one am excited to see what he has in store.

Re: RE: Re: Premium seating opportunities...
I've heard he wants to redo the entire entrance plaza. What exactly that means, I have no idea. My guess would be to remove Owens anf flatten everything out so you walk in from stadium lot with a full open view of the stadium's interior. Would be cool to have underground locker rooms under the current Owens site.huskie3 wrote:Is that total removal or replacement? Like in having that end totally open plaza.
I really hope they don't build up there blocking the view of Howards Knob. If we ever do build premium end zone boxes (and that's obviously yeeeeaaaarrrs down the road) they build it on the hill side making a horse shoe.

You all do realize that Howard's Knob is a mountain, right? It can easily be seen, even if someone puts up a building.
Except when it's foggy.

hate to hear about the county unwilling to budge off their price, as said many times that piece of property would solve a lot of our problems. As far as my wish list, keep some kind of uniformity and flow with the new additions, hate piece mill stadiums, looks cheap and ugly, and get the seating up to minimum of thirty thousand.
Re: Premium seating opportunities...
question for anyone who knows, does anyone have a rough idea about how much money we have in the bank to begin work, and for that matter, how much debt do will still have from past renovations? The only thing I ever heard was we raised around 45 million from the 200 million dollar fund raising.

I spoke with someone in the AD office and the plan is to tear down Owens and add club seats in that end zone in the next 2-5 years. No plans for anything major on the east or west side in the near term. The track will be removed and simply covered with grass.

I hope we don't have a lot of money sitting in the bank ( or investments ) unless they are making considerably more than the cost of the debt.moehler wrote:question for anyone who knows, does anyone have a rough idea about how much money we have in the bank to begin work, and for that matter, how much debt do will still have from past renovations? If we are going to wait 2, 3, 5 years before we do something, wouldn't it make sense to start now, an athletic fundraiser with a goal of 30-50 million in 3 to 5 years, instead of just sitting on our hands doing nothing and scrambling for the money at the beginning of the project?

Perhaps the request for interest in club seating was the start of the process. If there is a lengthy waiting list, that can be used to approach a bank for a loan Along with any silent phase $$ pledged. Its evidence of ability to repay.moehler wrote:If we are going to wait 2, 3, 5 years before we do something, wouldn't it make sense to start now, an athletic fundraiser with a goal of 30-50 million in 3 to 5 years, instead of just sitting on our hands doing nothing and scrambling for the money at the beginning of the project?
Personally, I think we need to payoff existing debt rather than deferring the old and adding new.

Gillen has done a tremendous job with football scheduling and his stadium plan is exciting.
I look forward to his imminent hiring of a new head baseball coach.

Re: Premium seating opportunities...
I like option three, which is remove the track and move the football field towards the home sideline. No digging down - align it with our next field replacement to minimize costs. Sure the east side would be pretty far away, so we'd have to make some changes there, but alot of it is aluminum seating and I'd bet it could be re-used.8993 wrote:The likelihood that they will remove the track altogether during the next round of renovations isn't high. When it comes down to it, removing the track will be a very, very expensive project with them having to dig down into hard rock to get love enough down. The only other option would be to pull the track up and put piecemealed seating into the lower sections. I'd take a complete looking stadium over removing the track any day.Rekdiver wrote:Couldnt you remove the track...unless we plan to host the Olympics...........

Move the field over to the west side and change the incline of the east stands to get it closer to the field and have steps up to the upper east deck similar to the west side configuration (with an elevator in the middle) so we can lose those eye sore ramps on the east side.

Re: RE: Re: Premium seating opportunities...
What he said. Just pull the east side lower deck metal bleachers and use the existing concrete as a foundation. Building right on top of it should allow us to match the slope of the upper deck and/or create symmetry with the west side.Saint3333 wrote:Move the field over to the west side and change the incline of the east stands to get it closer to the field and have steps up to the upper east deck similar to the west side configuration (with an elevator in the middle) so we can lose those eye sore ramps on the east side.
Digging is unnecessary. This option is much cheaper and easier. And would probably add 1,500-2,500 seats.
