Since Collins has already let the entire GT staff go, I don't think that there would be a reason to wait to announce until after a bowl game if the hire was coming from that staff.

Agreed. With Drink being at Auburn and Boise.... check the D coaches he worked with there.

I think that he took the time off to watch his son play high school football. Not sure that he is done but he would be a thought get with our budget.

Someone here stated that the Defensive Coordinator would want to hire their own staff so no more defensive assistant hired would be made until the DC position was filled.

Two guys were retained who previously coached under Woody as defensive position coaches. If it wasn't Woody, I'd believe that these positions would've stayed open. Even had Woody not already been here, he would still be one of the more qualified guys that App could get.

I was thinking along these lines. DJ worked under Woody before he left for GT.

Chizik is a 4-3, Cover 2 aficionado. All he's ever run. Would be a TERRIBLE fit for App's personnel, and the G5 in general.

If he even had any interest in getting back into coaching, which he doesn't appear to have.

Roof's compensation as #10 of 10 coaches at WolfieU is less than half of what he made at GaTech. Coach D has the $ to hire Roof--hopefully he also has the good judgment not to go there!

Roof's compensation as #10 of 10 coaches at WolfieU is less than half of what he made at GaTech. Coach D has the $ to hire Roof--hopefully he also has the good judgment not to go there!

Was he fired at Tech? The buyout, if any might be the reason for the low salary at State. Don’t know.

It's both. He doesn't stay anywhere very long. He's a sincere guy, but he's become like a journeyman relief pitcher in MLB whose arm is worn out and he can no longer find the strike zone. Free agent for hire.

He was fired at Auburn and his D’s were mostly terrible. Pretty sure he was strongly encouraged to seek other employment by Johnson at GT as well.

I have 2 friends who aren’t connected at State and 3 friends who aren’t connected at App. All have told me they’ve heard it’s roof. I don’t know their sources, but when 5 people who don’t know each other are all telling me one thing, logic says that it’s Roof.
