We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

The staff knows they are coaching for their jobs so I am hopeful we see some unseen stuff in play calls and scheme over the next 4 weeks.
If those arrows are in the quiver, then I would have to ask why did the staff wait until they were coaching for their jobs to use them?
Just throwing this out there. Maybe, the staff is getting the most out of Joey and bringing him along. He was only a part-time starter in JuCo last year (not sure if it was due to an injury, coaches decision, etc). He’s stepped into FCS football and only had the off-season to build a relationship with his teammates.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s showed tremendous poise and has made some big plays this season in tough environments (and often while having the pressure of playing from behind).

Each week he’s getting better and the playbook is getting opened up a little more (when we tried the backward passes or gadget plays earlier, the play call was there, but the execution wasn’t). We even snapped the ball and hit a man in motion at a critical point in a game.

We saw a jet sweep this week, the razzle dazzle TD and we saw his best running game in tune with his highest passing output. And as long as we could block their edge rushers, we saw a lot of good things that happened on offense.

Perhaps we are going in the same direction on defense. While we gave up a ton, you did see Parker deeper in the secondary making plays (called back INT, pass breakup in the end zone) and there was a play where our edge rusher recognized the back slipping out of the backfield, reversed direction and forced an incompletion. (Against Coastal, we let the back slip out uncovered).
Again, we gave up a ton, but you can see some small improvements/coaching taking hold.

500+ yards from Southern Miss should answer the above.....Our defense is as bad as i've seen and that goes back to the year 1970. Hall kept asking why we were giving so much cushion in the secondary...i'd agree if it werent for the number of times we got beat deep....
That's unreal. Can't look it up at the moment but does anyone know what the average total yardage the defense is giving up a game?
We are allowing 424 yards per game. We are gaining 461 yards per game. We seem equally as bad against the run (206 per game) as passing (218).
Those numbers are relative. While we do give up more through the air, we are 4th in the Belt in passing defense and 14th in rush defense.

Common opponents outside conference all lost Saturday. Carolina to jekyll and hyde yellow jacket team. Wyoming bullied by Boise State. Pirates lose again, their only win against runnin bulldogs who have turned it around and won 2 in a row in the Big South. Gardner Webb currently in 2nd place in the 4 member football conference. We are so close to having a great record, yet it could be worse. Our schedule which is made years in advance is in no way shape or form of being strong. I see no reason we still can't run the table though as none of the teams we play are unbeatable. If can't win the east, bowl eligible and a win would make for a nice ending considering how the ball has bounced for us this year. Go App.
What would need to happen for this season to qualify as the greatest in-season turn around in App football history?

Get to 6 wins and receive and win bowl game?
Win out the remaining four games and win the bowl invite that is received?
Win out the remaining four games and get some outside help to win the East?
In 2014, we did start 1-5 and finished 7-5.

Dale Jones is a good man. He gave his All and still LOVES APP..... nothing but good thoughts for him.

Thank you for your service Dale.
I wonder if he is the one that brought "Today I give may All for Appalachian State," from Tennessee's "I will give my all for Tennessee today!" to Appalachian State.

Maybe just our luck needs to change, not sure anything to turn around, not like we started the season 0-4 or something.

58% chance to beat Marshall = 1-0 !!

I guess my question for you is let's say App won three of the next four and went on to play in and win a bowl game, would you consider that a bigger turn around than 2014?

So we've now reached the part of this guys program where the tactic has turned to threaten players leaving to retain a coach?

Beat Marshall and avoid this type of crap.

Agreed but I think they still have the fact it has been 4 years and people in charge did not consider 2020 and 2021 as years that don't count. We need to keep seeing improvements and they need to go 3-1 in November or else I think we will see Shawn let go. I felt like the improvements were not until the second half though and we need to see much better first half play in November. USM is by far the worst team of our last 5 games and if we repeat that first half again this weekend I fear we lose by 17+.

No, no I'm not Todd or hopefully you are just from Todd.

If before the season 48 points and a homecoming win was on the table everyone would say sounds good, but the majority is miserable and don't appreaciate the win as Dabo says.

As long as I continue to get 'Thanks' people agree and I will continue.

I think the reason some are miserable is that we looked bad for three quarters and gave up 38 to the worst team in league. If we had done what we did in the last 3 games against our last 3 opponents people wouldn’t be as upset but we just played the weakest part of our SBC schedule. We are entering the toughest stretch of the season and people fear back to back years of not even getting a bowl invite.

I think we can win 3 of the final 4 but we also have to play a lot better. The next 4 teams we play are all better than the last 3 we played and we are 1-2 in the last 3 games. Hopefully we improve a lot because we will have to in order to do well in November.
