Re: NEZ work today
That’s exactly what it will be used for - a field level patio for NEZ ticket holders.
Give 'em hell!

Re: NEZ work today
I believe they'll turn the current home locker room into the visitors locker room. Probably sterilize it a bit so it's not *too* comfortable for a visiting team.

This is a very dumb idea. That is a large space and they visitors will have to run across our field for their entrance...SayYesToTheRock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:08 pmI believe they'll turn the current home locker room into the visitors locker room. Re: NEZ work today
There simply isn't anywhere else for them to go. The current situation with visitors walking from the Quinn Center is Division-3 tier. Keeping them there would be dumb.
It's a large space, but I'm sure it can be modified to be made smaller and more befitting a visitor locker room. Remodeling isn't rocket science. Plus, I like the idea that the opposing team will have to walk down that tunnel surrounded by masses of our fans.
Also, in the Owens Fieldhouse days, visitors ALWAYS ran across our field during their entrance. They just ran longways from the North-East corner of the end zone to the east sideline. But they always made a point of running on the field regardless.

Re: NEZ work today
No for the last 15 years we made them walk to the NE corner and then run out.
Why we can’t plan ahead and put the visiting locker room (a small one) in the NEZ is puzzling.
Each capital project we plan for the now not the future. That is partly due to the lack of funds, still frustrating.
I’m never a fan of opposing teams getting near fans, only downside there.

Re: NEZ work today
Maybe the players each can grab themselves a craft beer as they run onto the field. Well the ones who are at least 21. Just kidding.

Saint....you ought to research Gaffney's old stadium, The Reservation, and ask how that entrance used to be! I'll bet your FIL can fill you in. Visitors had to run under a screen-covered alley-way that emptied onto the field through the home stands. Needless to say the screen didn't stop any liquids from raining down.

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: NEZ work today
The door to that leads to the current locker room could be walled in and a tunnel could be dug to midway down the bricked-in pathway. I heavily agree that the opposing team walking through App fans is a recipe for issues. If the opposing team gets the current locker room ALL amenities should be striped. And only cold showers like Boston Gardensscatman77 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:41 pm"I’m never a fan of opposing teams getting near fans, only downside there."

Re: NEZ work today
I spoke with DG at the Crabtree Marriot before the UNC game last year and he said what be become the visitor dressing room will be stripped of most amenities and made into an appropriate visitors' space. Having said that,. I remember being in Marshall's visitor locker room not long after that facility was built and it was NICE. Didn't see the home side though. Bet it was nicer.Woodstovegang wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:37 pmThe door to that leads to the current locker room could be walled in and a tunnel could be dug to midway down the bricked-in pathway. Re: NEZ work today
Speaking of the Boston Garden I like this story. The Lakers were in town and sent a message to the Garden management that they demanded air conditioning in their locker room. Remember that there was no AC in the Garden whatsoever. Come game time the Laker's locker room was fixed. There were 3-4 window AC units......in boxes in the hall outside their locker room!Woodstovegang wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:37 pmThe door to that leads to the current locker room could be walled in and a tunnel could be dug to midway down the bricked-in pathway. Re: NEZ work today
I brought this up a while back on this board and was told it was impossible/not feasible. Seems like it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Follow the existing trench, dig a tunnel under the concourse, and make the team walk up a short flight of stairs into a locker room.Woodstovegang wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:37 pmThe door to that leads to the current locker room could be walled in and a tunnel could be dug to midway down the bricked-in pathway. Anything we can do to keep our fans away from visiting players is ideal. I'd like to think the best about Mountaineer fans but I don't know if a rope barrier is enough to stop 1 drunk a**hole from throwing insults or worse. We obviously do not want the reputation hit if fans throw drinks, throw food, spit, etc at opposing players.

Re: NEZ work today
Could frame up some walls and a roof for a fraction of the cost if it became a problem or go with a canvas top. Still have to cross the concourse but just have to rope it off for a few minutes. When everyone gets to actually see what we've done with the NEZ, new turf, no track and regrading the hill, you won't think about this little issue. There isn't a better 30k seat stadium in the country.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 1:03 pmI brought this up a while back on this board and was told it was impossible/not feasible. Re: NEZ work today
I don’t think you realize how far away some P5 visiting locker rooms are from the field. The distance from Dukes visiting locker room to Wallace Wade makes the trek from Quinn look short.SayYesToTheRock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:59 pmThere simply isn't anywhere else for them to go. Here’s a look at it. Quinn would be no big deal at all.

Re: NEZ work today
Keep the band on the field. Make them enter the field by going behind the goal post and end zone field signage. Add a rope line. No running through the marching mountaineers. Or better yet, keep using Quinn.

Re: NEZ work today
I think its less the distance and more the uphill trip that visitor's don't care for. I noticed Ga State just held their halftime on the hill in the south end zone.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 2:42 pmI don’t think you realize how far away some P5 visiting locker rooms are from the field.
