Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
Judges, including the Supreme Court, have handed the NCAA their butts left and right over the last 3 years. Currently, any barrier on what college athletes can or can't do in terms of movement or finances can't stand. Especially with state attorney generals from both sides of the political divide on the same side here.

He's a west coast kid. I'm sure he's looking to get back on the left coast and settle near his family. Not sure Boone NC is going to give him any better connections than that (not counting the girlfriend he met here), plus he probably received some real dollars to go to UCLA compared to some pocket change from App.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 10:33 amHonest question, you really think Joey is going to spend 2 semesters at UCLA and make good career connections? I think these guys who aren’t going to play on Sunday would do better to spend 4 or 5 years at one place developing relationships and making connections.

His “NIL deal” at App was rumored to be $150,000. Tell the teacher who graduated from App and start at $35,000 that $150,000 is pocket change.AppDub wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 5:52 pmHe's a west coast kid. Lighten up sparky, compared to what he was getting from App and what is rumored to be his NIL value, it is pocket change to him. Nobody was talking about a teacher who graduated from App in the convo, but hey way to be a man of the people.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 5:55 pmHis “NIL deal” at App was rumored to be $150,000. I fully expect things will become much worse before they get better. As painful as that will be, it will be necessary to demonstrate to all parties that the current arrangement is unsustainable.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
What’s real dollars? I go out to Cali quite often and $150k in Boone is probably $450k to live near Beverly Hills. I wish him well unless be plays App but unless he’s getting $500k you might be talking a downgrade in quality of lifeAppDub wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 5:52 pmHe's a west coast kid. Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
Kids see $$ signs and don’t put much stock in cost of living or quality of life. It’s a short term issue for them and if they like it they stay and if not they can move on. That’s not an indictment on Joey or these kids. It just what the young 18-24 year old with no real responsibilities thinks about.

Maybe, maybe not. In addition to NIL, where is he staying and who pays for that. Housing is the most crazy expensive idea in LAX....and Westwood area is not cheap...If that is paid for...then he may need only $200 to $250 equivalent.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:01 amWhat’s real dollars? Jesus, yall can't even be nice about a young adult who gave his all during his time here in Joey. Yall still have to find ways to put him down and his choice to move to UCLA. I stand by a previous statement I made about who in the world would want to play for an online fanbase that shits on people as soon as they leave, even ones that gave so much. Such miserable little grinches.

Lot of toxicity on this board. Losing causes it but the portal & NIL have amplified it.appdaze wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:31 amJesus, yall can't even be nice about a young adult who gave his all during his time here in Joey. The vocal ones here presume the only viable reason any player goes into the portal is 100% because they want to chase money.
Maybe they're correct. Maybe they're not. But Lord knows they won't be willing to even think about any possibility of themselves being wrong.
A guy from Cali who stumbled upon an extra year of eligibility AFTER he walked on Senior Day, after he saw his Head Coach & OC get fired. It's so crazy to think there might be other factors than clout or dollars.
Some people act like he's going to UC-Irvine or San Jose State. He's going to UCLA, a major brand in the Big 10. Do they look like a team competing for championships? No...but do we? What reason does he have to stay here if App fans only view loyalty from a glass house?

Take a look around the social media world. This behavior from “adults” is pretty universal across the entire landscape.appdaze wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:31 amJesus, yall can't even be nice about a young adult who gave his all during his time here in Joey. Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
In about 5 years I’d love to see what the (then) 28ish year old former college football players have from their 2024 NIL payments. Maybe some will still have some jewelry left over and maybe some will be benefiting from their investments they made. Not to paint with a broad brush we know damn well money made from most NIL deals will be squandered.

Guy from CA uses last year of eligibility to play QB and get a degree from UCLA.
You can say that guy played at pretty much any school last year and 99% of people would say that is awesome!
