App State is the best team in the Sun Belt right now. I'm not going to apologize for being bullish about my football team. It's the coaches jobs to be pessimistic and keep the team grounded.

Some people wake up in the morning with a goal to be miserable.
Some folks are not arrogant enough to think we are the only good team in the Belt. The point is there are three with a shot at the title, each with their own claim to be the favorite. Obviously, both Troy and App can't finish undefeated, nor can both Troy and AState do likewise. I don't think pessimism should be confused with realism. Troy does have the advantage of playing both at home. App and AState have the advantage of not playing each other, though that could prove to be a liability to an outright title.
The various "we're going to have to play better than we have to beat Troy" comments are closer to pessimism than realism, IMO.

For what it's worth we are among a group of 37 schools who are currently bowl eligible through 8 games played. I will take 6-2 (without having peaked) versus 4-4 and desperately looking for 2 more wins in order to maybe get a bowl bid. We are a program and not just a football team.

Tennessee fans would take 6-2. They are about to jump off bridges in Knoxville.

Just read T-Dog's column; I didn't see that postgame handshake between the coaches when I was watching Thursday night. Some real warmth and mutual respect there.

If fans on a message board don't focus on the next game the team WILL lose it. Get dialed in.
